AO: Green Flash
Workout Date: 06/03/21
Green Flash is one of those AOs where you need to post the week before to grab the Q for the next week. The guys knew I was coming last week and nobody fought me for it, which would’ve been hella awkward (this is how everyone under 30 speaks, trust me). The main concern this morning was the weather. A big thunderstorm woke me and half of Raleigh around 2:30am. Would it still be going at 5:30am? Did Green Flash have an alternate site? I went back to sleep, imagining myself knocking on car windows and telling everyone to follow me to a parking deck at North Hills. Luckily, it was over in plenty of time before the main event. I did hit some heavy rain on the drive over and fully expected to be rained on for at least part of the time.

The parking lot was empty for most of my prerun. Fudd rolled in around 5:27am, and a minute later in came the Calvary. Seriously, twelve guys showed up in three minutes. It was something to behold.

Main Event
1) The Beast / Number of the Beast / whatever we call it: Six rounds of six exercises, one exercise each round. Each round consists of six reps at six stations (streetlights). Merkins, then American Hammers (folks were not happy about sitting on the wet ground), then Sumo Squats, then Curb Derkins, then Little Baby Crunches, then Jump Squats. The last exercise is supposed to be burpees, but YHC totally forgot and no one reminded me. This is a day that will live in infamy for My Precious, who was eager to celebrate the 124th birthday of Royal Huddleston Burpee, inventor of the Burpee. (UPDATE: his birthday is actually tomorrow)

2) Mosey to the rock pile and partner up for rock work. One partner does AMRAP of an exercise while the other partner runs across the parking lot and back. Flapjack. Hold for the six. Repeato with a new exercise. Rock exercises were: Curl, Overhead Press, Bent Over Row, Triceps Extension, Shoulder Tap, Chest Press, Skull Crushers, Rock Flutter Kicks, American Hammers (rock optional). Return rocks and mosey back to start for a quick Mary.

Naked Moleskin:
It was wet. I totally expected rain, so I didn’t mind getting on the wet ground for exercises. PAX disagreed. We were totally soaked by the time it was over.
Cobains to My Precious. I doubt I would’ve done a crazy amount of burpees today, but I definitely dropped the ball on the Beast. Some PAX were fine with that.
This was my fifty-fifth #F3Q21 #2021Challenge Q (fifty-seventh overall). Next Q is Friday (tomorrow) at Slippery When Wet (Carpex).
