YHC jogged around NC MOA early Saturday to try and remember how to get to the hill on the greenway that leads to the bridge that crosses 440. My only point of reference thus far were the giant inflatable bunnies that have taken over a grassy knoll. Unfortunately, most of the bunnies were deflated and it was dark so running around aimlessly lead me to be nearly decapitated by a wire holding the one lone inflated bunny upright. I hope the cop sitting nearby and watching for vandals got a kick out of that. I found the hill and vowed to return.

Needed some help with the disclaimer then 9 of us were off. Started off with partner wheelbarrows, bear crawls, and lunge walks down the parking lot. The group reorganized for suicides in the parking lot. Each suicide was broken up by an increasing number of merkins.

6 Merkins IC
You get the idea, we did it up to 10 merkins.

Around Merkin set number 8 a previously unseen car behind us started up, turned on its lights, and drove away. The group was unsure as to what we stumbled upon:
a) Did we bust up a potential drug deal?
b) Did somebody drink too many fullsteams and fistbump to the EDM music too hard at the Bunny exhibit and sleep it off in their car?
c) Did an FNG get too nervous and ultimately decide to drive away?
I’d like to think it was b)

We ran over to the circle area for 11s with dips and derkins followed by Mary. The group reassembled and moseyed over to the hill up to the greeneway bridge that crosses over 440. We broke it up with squats by the legs/butt statue as a biker rode through us. I hope that was the most awkward thing that happened to anyone in the group this weekend, it was for me.

At the base of the hill we had a approximately 45 seconds to make it back to the start but YHC called for 7s with burpees at the top and jump squats at the bottom. Nobody seemed enthused but YHC loved it. I think the group made it through 1 set of burpees and jump squats before we had to scram, and then Serge arrived. A quick AYG back to the start led by Mr Bigglesworth took us into the weekend. Coffeeteria ensued which consisted of lamenting the Panthers season thus far; glad I waited till Monday to write this and can report things are looking up.

Announcements:
– Welcome to FNG Eric, aka Nerd Wallet. Serge brings out the FNG and shows up late. Certainly there is a term for that in the lexicon. Eric is an NC State grad and works with a credit union in town. We didn’t get that far in COT because his shirt said “Nerd Wallet”.
– Christ our King is hosting a dinner/conversation this Thursday. The subject matter is “uncomfortable” and will focus on race relations in the community. Neighbor to Neighbor is heading this up.
– I know there were more but I am totally blanking. Apologies.

Thankful for the group that showed up this past Saturday and participated in my inaugural Q in Raleigh. I can’t imagine there is a better AO than NC MOA anywhere in F3 and it was a great group of guys to work out with. It started my weekend off right; looking forward to the next time.
