Prologue:
Today was not technically a True Grit Challenge Q. I signed up for today after I had already picked my Challenge Qs. Today was to help fill out the Dawn Patrol Q sheet for the rest of 2019 for our new site Qs.
Warm Up:
-Mosey around parking lot, circle up.
-Side Straddle Hops x20 In Cadence (IC)
-Good Mornings x10 IC.
-Hillbillies x20 IC
-Nancy Kerrigan/Sobriety Test forward x10 IC
-Nancy Kerrigan/Sobriety Test reverse x10 IC
-World’s Greatest Stretch w/ Pigeon Pose variation
Main Event:
-Mosey to bottom of parking lot for 7s: Hand-release ‘Mercans and squats.
-Mosey around side of building down the gravel access to the rock pile. Grab a rock, move to the kids’ basketball court. 10-15-10 pyramid of curls, overhead presses, bent over rows, triceps extensions. Return the rocks.
-Mosey around the inner playground loop back to the swings for BLIMPS: Burpees x5 OYO, (alternating) Lunges x10 IC, Imperial Walkers x15 IC, Mercans x20 (on my down), Plank Jacks x25 IC , Squats x30 IC (YHC’s cadence counts accidentally led to 60 squats).
-Count off by twos. Partner 1 does AMRAP WW1s while partner 2 runs loop up the stairs to the shelter and back down the wheelchair ramp. Flapjack. Repeato with AMRAP of something I can’t remember. Final repeato with AMRAP Mercans, requested by Vortex when I made the offer to the group.
-Mosey to main basketball court for Mary.
Mary:
PAX-led Mary. YHC started with Homer-to-Marge x10, next PAX (Spin Class) called something else I can’t remember, next PAX (Vortex) surprised everyone with Mercans. Next PAX (Billy Goat?) led Imperial Squat Walkers. Out of time. Ended with Have a Nice Day.
COT:
11 PAX, although YHC’s eagerness to include a final thought led me to skip Name-O-Rama. Please be mindful of those struggling during the holidays, including yourself. Even small contact makes a difference. Billy Goat informed us that Cotton has called for a new challenge for 2020: Q 20 different workouts in 2020! Multiple prayers that I have forgotten in the three days it took for my to write this.
Spin Class took us out.
Naked Moleskin:
Oakwood 24 was a success, raising over $100,000 for healing transitions. Midget4Life asked me to include this in the backblast, so here it is.
BuzzFeed is an angry elf. He used very inappropriate language to express his displeasure with Spin Class and Woody skipping the pre-run, only to run to the workout. He did not offer his neighbors a ride back home.
Where was Walk This Way this morning? A Steve Zissou (Life Aquatic) look-alike joined us instead.
The True Grit Challenge has been great for me, and I highly recommend it (and the new Q20 challenge). It has definitely made me a better Q. Having three brothers who are front-of-the-pack regulars tell me today was a good Q was the highlight of my day.
