“Time is speed, speed is time”. Lifted from Dennis Hopper in the not-so-much-a-blockbuster street racing movie King of the Mountain from 1981. As I think about it, only a few of the 9 PAX at Hi-Fidelity actually experienced 1981, but we all felt what Uncle Dennis meant today. Interval pyramid speed training session for the inaugural 1-hour version of Hi-Fidelity. Giddy-up. Here ’tis:
800m warmup with high knees, butt kicks, and accelerations sprinkled in for good measure
25 SSH, 15 Good Mornings, 15 Windmill, 15 Mountain Climber, Calf Stretch, Tempo Arms/Breathing
Minor bellyaching about 1-hour session not including more warmup, but we skimmed the appetizer and jumped into the main dish.
4x-100m hard with 100m recovery jog
3x-200m hard with 100m recovery jog
2x-400m hard with 200m recovery jog
1x-800m hard with 400m recovery jog
2x-400m hard with 200m recovery jog
3x-200m hard with 100m recovery jog
4x-100m hard with 100m recovery jog
Jog to parking lot, because as White Shoe says, “of course, every good cool-down includes more running”.
Pushed for time, we ended with COT, Announcements, Prayer Requests, then hung out for a bit.
All-in, over 5 miles of interval work. Nice hard work by all involved. My legs were shaking as I brushed my teeth an hour after the workout. I know what that means. I will embrace the sure-to-come soreness as a reminder of feeling alive! Thankful to be able to run, thankful to be a part of this group, and really appreciate the opportunity to Q.
