18 bold men emerged in the gloom for some Saturday Mud Run training at Carroll Middle. With Cadberry Cream Eggs and chocolate bunnies dancing in their heads, it was time to pay up. With no FNG’s present, a brief disclaimer was given and away we went.

Mosey to the First Citizens parking lot for warm-ups. SSH x25, Good Mornings x15, Imperial Walkers x20, Mountain Climbers x20.

Head on over to the steps of the bank. Find a partner. Time for Larry David’s favorite exercise. Stairbarrow the flight of steps, 5 Derkins at the top. Jog down the other steps and around to the base again. Flapjack with your partner and repeat. Plank when done.

Mosey back down to the road. Indian run down past the apartments and over to the ampitheater. Find a spot on the concrete walls. 11’s. 10 jump-ups –> 1 Irkin, 9 jump-ups –> 2 Irkins. You know the rest. 15 Derkins in cadence.

Mosey down the back road to Church of the Apostles. At the main entrance of the parking lot, find a partner. Partner 1 runs the hill up to the basketball hoop, burpees and back down. Partner 2 does AMRAP of a Mary exercise while waiting. Then flapjack.

1-10 burpees, 2- AMRAP LBCs, FJ. 1- 9 burpees, 2-Freddie Mercury’s, FJ. 1-8 Burpees, 2- Reverse LBCs, FJ. 1- 7 burpees, 2- WWII sit-ups, FJ. 1- 6 burpees, 2- 6 inch leg hold, FJ. 1-10 burpees, 2-American Hammers, FJ. PAX expected to go from 6 burpees down to 5, gotta keep them on their toes. Nice round number of 50 burpees total.

Mosey down to the bottom parking lot, grab a rock and circle up. In cadence: Curls x15, Triceps extensions x15, Bent over row x15, Shoulder press x15. Rocks were passed to the right after each exercise. We let O’Doul’s keep his rock so as not to subject him to his Dad, Zima’s monster rock.

Stroll on down to St. Albans. With your partner: alternate wheelbarrows and broad jumps up the street towards Carroll. There was some lunge-walking that looked a lot like actual walking from some PAX, but YHC nipped that in the bud.

Once we reached the apartments, we switched to a partner chase. Partner 1- 10 merkins while Partner 2 takes off running. Once you catch up to your partner, he drops for 10 merkins. Squat hold once you reach the corner of Dartmouth and St. Albans. Leisurely jog up Camelot to the stop sign by Carroll. Squat hold so everyone can catch up. Sprint back to the shovel flag with whatever is left in the tank.

American Hammers x30. Donezo.

Strong work by the men of Catalyst this morning. Explored some uncharted territory and made full use of what North Hills has to offer. Blue Ridge Relay info session this Tuesday at Yardhouse, 7:30. Go Ruck info session at Player’s Retreat 7pm on 4/21. Sign-up for flag football 4/18, $15. Hoping to get a couple F3 teams involved. Convergence that day at Chavis Park.

Prayers offered up for Peach Pit’s father who has a consultation Monday and likely open heart surgery Tuesday. Prayers for Snuffie’s good friend battling lung cancer (Sam I think). Prayers for Easter services and Apostle’s Easter Egg Hunt today.

If you don’t have a church home, come to Church of the Apostles Easter services at 9 or 11 this Sunday, 333 Church at North Hills St. The Catalyst PAX certainly know how to get there now. YHC shared an excerpt from Tim Keller’s “King’s Cross”, also known as “Jesus the King” as something to think about in anticipation of his resurrection and return:

“Jesus had risen, just as He told them He would. After a criminal does his time in jail and fully satisfies the sentence, the law has no more claim on him and he walks out free. Jesus Christ came to pay the penalty for our sins. That was an infinite sentence, but He must have satisfied it fully, because on Easter Sunday He walked out free. The resurrection was God’s way of stamping PAID IN FULL right across history so that nobody could miss it.

On the Day of the Lord—the day that God makes everything right, the day that everything sad comes untrue—on that day the same thing will happen to your own hurts and sadness. You will find that the worst things that have ever happened to you will in the end only enhance your eternal delight. On that day, all of it will be turned inside out and you will know joy beyond the walls of the world. The joy of your glory will be that much greater for every scar you bear. So live in the light of the resurrection and renewal of this world, and of yourself, in a glorious, never-ending, joyful dance of grace.”

Hash Brown prayed us out.
