June 6th. D-Day. What better way to honor those who fought. Those who gave all. Those who make possible the freedoms we enjoy everyday. Allowing us to gather, as a group of free men, and work together to make one another better. Today we honored the fathers, sons, brothers, friends and neighbors, who payed the ultimate sacrifice on that day. A day we can never fully imagine. But will never forget.

2 shovel flags proudly planted. 22 Pax. No FNGs. Don’t get hurt, but if you do, we’ll bring you home. Let’s go.

Warm Up
Jog towards field, stopping along the way for:
SSH x25, IW x15, Close-Grip Merkins x10

Basic Training
Run down to the rocks, grab a good one, and bring it with you up the hill to the back of the school. Count off into 3 units. Plan is to make it through 3 rounds of the following: Station 1) Paint the Hill (12 cones/time setters), 2) Rocks (curl/press/etc x10), 3) AMRAP Pull-ups (squats/etc until you can pull-up again)
AUDIBLE #1: Painting the hill, all the way down the length of the school proved to take too long. So basic training was cut short. For round 2 we cut the number of cones in half. Then we got the call, round 3 was abandoned. Audibles often happen in battle. You make them. You move forward.

D-Day
Back down the hill, return your rocks and run onto the field. Find a spot in the soccer goal. Pack it in boys. Squat Hold as everyone maneuvers for space. Quick explanation to the Pax assembled: This is our platoon’s Higgins Boat or LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel). And it is very close to the right size. Except we had 14 fewer men, no gear, and we weren’t in the English Channel.
When the invasion launched, the channel was filled with boats. Each packed with a platoon. The noise overhead was deafening. The sky filled with ordinance. The sea was rough. Men were getting seasick everywhere. By the time they were 400 yards from the beach, they could hear the guns aimed at them. Then the ramp drops and you go. Go, go, go!
AUDIBLE #2:  This was going to happen on the field, but they had it marked off with little white flags. So we respected the field. Ramp drops and everyone sprints to the track. Sprint halfway down the straight, then drop to a Bear Crawl for the rest of the way to the corner. Squat Hold, Plank, Chillcut, Plank, Squat Hold
Halfway there boys, we’ve only gone 100 yards. Repeat above heading back the other direction.

Battle of Rowan
Run to the back entrance on Rowan Drive.
D-Day is over, but nearly a year of hard fighting lies ahead.
5 stations: Launch Point, Revere St, Drexel St, back to Revere, back to Launch
Decreasing exercises of 25, 20, 15, 10, 5 reps at each station as we work the front
3 rounds, non-stop: 1) Burpees, 2) Squats, 3) Merkins
AUDIBLE 3#: Round 1 was brutal, and took forever. Time was up. So those who finished round 1 returned for a Sweeper Round, doing Squats (25, 20, 15) and collecting all the Pax along the way. We’re not leaving anyone on this hill!

Mary
Run back to our warm-up spot for: LBCs x20, Flutters x20, Hammers x20
and of course, WWIIs x 20 (IC, slow count)

COT
Jog back to the flag.
Count off, Name-o-rama (Where’s Waldo)
Honor/Respect for those who fought and those who gave their lives, so that we have the freedom we have today.
Rainman took us out.

Moleskin
Great work by all today. I love a theme, but it makes planning a little harder. Kinda underestimated how long it would take at the first and last events. But we adapted. And it was still a smoker.

When we returned to the flag for COT, Costco commented “Where’s Waldo?” Seems Waldo had to split a little early. Almost used that as the title for this post. Next time.

Always an honor. Thanks for following along.
