There’s nothing quite like hoofing it through a quiet UNC campus at dawn with assorted stoppages for merkins of a variety of shapes and sizes, planks, bear crawls, walking lunges, dips, step-ups and burpees to get the week off to a rollicking start.

Seventeen PAX gathered at Fetzer Field at 0545 Monday for a warm-up of SSH x 20, Good Mornings x 10, Prisoner Squats x 10, Arm Circles x 10 front and back, CDD x 10 and Merkins x 10.

Then we jogged from the east end of Fetzer to steps in front of Woollen Gym and split into two groups, rotating sets of Derkins x12, x15 and x18 and jump lunges three times.

From there we found the sitting walls in front of Fetzer Gym for three sets of Dips x 12 and Step-Ups x 12.

Then it was on the Bell Tower, where we circled the base and knocked out sets of 10 Burpees, 10 Double-Merkin Burpees and five Quintuple-Merkin Burpees, with Bows-To-Toes Plank holds of 30 seconds between each set.

The long, wet grass of Polk Place in front of Wilson Library was our next stop, and we bear-crawled about 50 yards, walking-lunged another 50 and then sprinted to the steps in front of South Building. YHC remembers Mountain Climbers, Parker Peters and more Burpees but honestly not the order nor count.

From there we made our way back to Fetzer, pausing at one stone wall for more dips and in The Pit for 15 more Burpees.
