Fall has arrived and with it came Major Payne’s first QIC effort. The air was dry, the ground was wet, the clouds were heavy, and the scene was eerily comfortable — but not for long.

 

Warm Up: 25 x SSH, 10 x Imperial Walkers,10 x arm circles forward and backward,10 x mountain climbers, 16 x in-cadence merkins, and after a little bit of mumble chatter from the PAX…20 x burpees.

 

The Thang: 

Weaver St. Wall ladder: We moseyed to Weaver Street Market for the Wall ladder on the planters: a jump-up/dip combo in cadence: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8- 9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Hill Ladder: Then we moseyed off on a circuitous route to Scroggs Field (that included a quick bear crawl through some bushes to warm up those shoulders more) where the QIC may or may not have become slightly disoriented for a just a millisecond. Along the far side of the field, we broke into a quick ladder on the (moist) hill: Run up the hill – 1 x squat; run down the hill – 1 x burpee; Run up the hill – 2 x squat; run down the hill – 2 x burpee. Up to 7. Suck factor was around 8 or 9 though.

Bear-Crab Soccer Madness: We next moseyed in two columns to the basketball court for a nice game of Bear-Crab Soccer. QIC counted the PAX off by twos. Ones initially became the Bears, and were required to bear crawl; Twos initially became the Crabs and they had to crab walk. Goalies held the plank and were supposed to stay in that position (-ish) when attempting to save a goal kick. Each team switched (bears became crabs and vice versa) at each score. 5 x burpees for the scored upon team; 5 x merkins for the scoring team. With nearly 30 PAX on the court, it looked like a hermit crab farm, and it’s likely some knees were bloodied out there, but hey, that’s what we love about F3, right? It’s all about the battle scars! Time flew by quickly, but we were still able to mosey back to the start with a couple minutes left before the finish, where we knocked out 25 x flutter kicks to finish.

 

COT:

No FNGs today, but lots of announcements, mostly centered around several upcoming VQs and the charge/challenge for others to volunteer to Q a workout. Coco and Adolphus mentioned that the success of Bastille has led to the possibility that we may need to either consider a new location for Fridays or add a “Heavy Metal” version of Bastille. Those conversations no doubt will take place during another one of our “Second F” events, one of which occurred last night at Sam’s Bottle Shop in Durham. Coco mentioned we had a great turnout and they “shut the place down” at the late night hour of 10pm.
