“Are we doing speed work or hills today?” Well, both. And some arms and abs, too. BRR training goals weigh heavy on the PAX of 23 as we work on surging up and down with some interval hill work through Budleigh. The goal was to work on speed over shorter inclines and declines with recovery on the plank/mericans at the crests or bottoms of hills.
The Thang
Start at Horton with some high knees, butt kickers, and hip stretches. Run to Ridge, then quick left on Birnamwood for a warmup jog. Head up Dixie to Churchill where the warmup portion of the program was completed. From here on out, run hard to the bottom or top of each hill. Plank when you get there to wait for everyone. 10 Mericans, then the next leg (at each stop). We continued up Churchill to Chester, down to Fairview, up to Canterbury, down Eton to Banbury, over to Darien (killer hill), then back up Birnamwood and back to Martin. Head over to the track for a quick all-out quarter mile.
Total was 5 miles today. We did not get to see the old lady smoking on her porch and cheering us on like last time, so we will need to try this one again for the entertainment factor. We ran by my house and my dog charged us. Who’s a good boy? There were a couple of hills in particular that were killers (Churchill, Darien), but all hung together. All in, good effort by the PAX. Lots of water weight lost.
Announcements included Haven House and 9/11 stair climb at Carter Finley (props to Vector Victor for arranging). Prayer requests included Denali’s friends family with a sick child, and Mr Bigglesworth’s friend.
Mr Bigglesworth took us out.
It was a good day to run.
