Drizzly & Chilly.

That was not just Candlestick’s nickname in high school.  It also describes the gloom into which 8 PAX stepped this morning at The Crick.  Here’s how it went:

Warmup

  • Jog around to the front of the school…up the stairs…down the chute…to the parking lot.  Look up at the drizzle falling softly to the earth, occasionally accompanied by a snow flake.  Marvel at the precipitation, each drop given its time to shine in the glow of an industrial street light.  The promise of new life is held in each molecule as it makes its way to earth and finds its fulfillment in indiscriminately giving itself to whomever or whatever it meets.  By itself, each one accounts for nothing.  Collectively, it is a force of reckless abandon, determined to refresh, renew, remake.  Wonder at that, and the gift of getting to stand in it in the company of others.

  • Repeato down to the end of the parking lot (perhaps 5 sets of each breed of Merican, though YHC can’t say that for sure)

Cardio N Legs

  • Count off in 1’s and 2’s.  1’s on the line, 2’s on deck
  • 1’s sprint around the parking lot (long track) 2’s squat AMRAP
  • Flapjack
  • 1’s sprint around the parking lot (long track) 2’s star jump, AMRAP
  • Flapjack
  • 1’s sprint around the parking lot (long track) 2’s People’s Chair
  • Flapjack
  • Repeato for one more circuit of runs, squats, star jumps and chairs.

4 Corners

  • Jog over the court
  • Sprint to the first corner, 5 Burpees
  • Karaoke to the next corner, 5 Star Jumps
  • Lunge to the next corner, 5 Burpees
  • Sprint to the last corner, 5 Star Jumps
  • Repeato

Skin

  • Kanye is having a baby tomorrow.  Prayers for him and his wife as they welcome their 3rd son.  We have a pool going on when their 4th will be here.  The safe bet says by Christmas.
  • Great to have Nickleback join us again this week!  Watch out for him to make cameos at other sites.
  • Speaking of…Granny Gear posted for the first time with us.  Rumor is, he’s been making the rounds over the past week, or so, and is quickly becoming a familiar face in the gloom.  Glad he crossed Brier Creek Parkway and found us.  Hope to see him again.
  • Always an honor to have CK join us.
  • Tweetsie is going to Brazil this summer to lead an international soccer tour.  Ask him if you can go, too.  He told me no, but I think he really meant yes.
  • Candlestick, The Situation, Kanye and YHC are going to the Mud Run.  Others are, too.  You should be one of them.
  • The Ram is this Saturday.  The Crick will not meet for our normal Saturday workout, but will post with the brothers in Chapel Hill and Durham.
