The temperature was just under 30 degrees at 0545 hours Monday on a quiet UNC campus, but a hearty group of F3 devotees assembled for their regular Monday beatdown at Fetzer Field.
Parts of the track and the east end zone were icy, so the group ran to the IM field in front of Carmichael Arena for warmup: SSH, IW, windmills, arm circles, Carolina dry docks and merkins. Then Shooter pulled out one of his favorite workouts for its quarterly emergence–The Escalator, no doubt learned in the early days of F3 on Saturday mornings on Duke’s East Campus.
The Thang:
Fifteen SSH in one corner of soccer field.
Run to next corner, add new exercise, the Parker Peter x 15. Then repeat SSH x 10.
Run to next corner, add new exercise, the Merkin x 15. Then repeat SSH and Parker Peter x 10 each.
And on around for 10 separate stations, adding in order Plank Jack, Air Squat, Freddie Mercury, Carolina Dry Dock, Burpee, Jump Lunge and Lo-Plank Hold.
We had just enough time for a quick session of Mary with LBC, In-Outs, Heels to Heavens, Russian Hammers and Super Mans.
Welcome to 11-year-old FNG Python.
