I woke up ready for my VQ; perhaps I never went to sleep worried about it.  Either way, the weather was beautiful with a slight breeze at Eastbound and Down when the clock hit 5:30 am.  First, thanks to Crotch Rocket who put the EH on me long enough for me to post at the now defunct Heavy Metal where Fungo reluctantly allowed me to be named K-Tribe as opposed to Laverne.  Yes, it took five months of bringing up the six at almost every workout and encouragement from Blue Crush (among others) to try being in charge.  Good to see so many familiar faces this morning as I confess I was a bit uneasy about the first attempt leading in the gloom.  Red Card gave me his seal of approval that the workout was hard enough so I figured it was good enough for those lucky enough to post.

Disclaimer given, no FNGs and off we went.

Warm Up:

SSH x 20

Imperial Walkers x 20

Standard Merkins x 25

Mountain Climbers x 19 (yes…I lost my count a bit here)

The Thang:

Jog down to the bottom of the driveway.  Partner up – size, not speed, matters.  Wheelbarrow up to the end of the mulch and broad jump burpees back to the bottom of the hill.  Flapjack. Partner carry up to the top of the hill and back.

Next up was the Beast (thanks Fava Bean).  Jog up to the tennis court.  One partner does six of each of the following exercises at each end of the court (for 36 reps total) while the other person did People’s Chair, Standard Plank, or Balls to Wall.

  • Squats
  • Monkey Humpers
  • Carolina Dry Docks
  • Burpees
  • Standard Merkins
  • Plank Jack

Timing didn’t work out quite as anticipated so we had one more station– run to the wall and do 20 left right step-ups (cut to 20 total instead of 20 per leg after some mumble chatter and my alarm telling me to wrap up), 20 dips, and 20 irkins OYO.

Merry:

40 LBCs

60-second Have a Nice Day (thanks Encroachment)

Announcements – Captain Kangaroo reclaiming his bratwurst eating championship

Prayer request – Big week for Yoda especially Friday morning at Neighbor to Neighbor.

Closed with should-to-shoulder (thanks Mr. Furley) circle and the Lord’s Prayer said in unison.

Naked Moleskin

Again, thanks to Blue Crush and Box Jump for allowing me to lead this morning.  For my VQ I wanted to attempt to thank as many people as possible in some small way by including their workouts in my own.  I’m thankful for the PAX and for each opportunity to grow as a man and a leader.  Today was another step in that process.
