5 PAX launched for a 3mile EC ruck loop through the woods and back up Laurel Hill (the Loop!).  Upon returning to the AO launch point, we found 16 other PAX milling around, looking for something to do.   Blindside had made a special request the prior night by stating “cut the running BS out of this… let’s get straight swole!”.*  Roger that.  Just stay with me.
*Editor’s note:  Is it a bit ironic that they guy who ‘doesn’t want running’ makes us run Laurel Hill with rucks?  #curious

The Warmup
Your typical F3 Churham warmup consists of a few SSH, arm circles, BWS, Merkins & more.
YHC thought we’d simplify a bit more and restrict it only to only SSH & burpees.   So we did…

  • SSH (x 20; IC)
  • 5 burpees (OYO)
  • SSH (x 10; IC)
  • 5 burpees (OYO)
  • SSH (x 10; IC)
  • 5 burpees (OYO)
  • SSH (x 10; IC)
  • 5 burpees (OYO)
  • SSH (x 10; IC)
  • 10 burpees (OYO)

The Thang
Head down the BFH (aka THWM; Tar Heel Warrior Mountain).  Take a hard right in the darkness to stay along the path, then hard left at the stairs down to the sandpit.  Successful move #1:  No PAX lost in this maneuver.  Full darkness and 0 headlamps added to the ambiance.

Given our PAX of 21, we sectioned into 3 groups of 7:

  • Group 1: Sand sprints (AMRAP) across the length of the full sandpit
  • Group 2: 10 merkins; 10 CDDs; 10 jump squats. Repeato if necessary until group 3 finishes
  • Group 3: 10 pullups each. (5 additional were added for those needing some EC)

The team at the pullup station acted as the timer for the PAX, calling out the ‘ROTATE’ when each man knocked out his 10 pullups. After much speculation that we’d stay there for just a handful of rotations… we stayed there for the entire workout.   About 7-8 rotations shook out somewhere close to the following;

  • 80 pullups
  • 50 sand sprints
  • 80 merkins
  • 80 CDDs
  • 80 jump squats

Mary
Our time management surprisingly allowed us a full 7 minutes of Mary.  Given that bonus, we did:

  • Flutter kicks (x20; IC)
  • LBC (x20; IC)
  • Russian hammer (x15; IC)
  • Right-side oblique crunch (x10; IC)
  • Left-side oblique crunch (x10; IC)
  • 15 burpees (OYO)
  • High/Low plank hold (x7; 5 seconds each)

COT
Prayers for Blackball and his continued recovery from his recent hospitalization.  Rumor has begun to develop speculating that his hospital stay was a hoax to gain sympathies and ‘Get Well Soon’ gifts delivered to his on-campus housing.
Welcome back (sort of) to My Little Pony whose recent 2.0 addition hasn’t afforded him or his M much sleep.   Prayers to those in the PAX who are excitedly (& nervously) awaiting the arrivals of their own new 2.0s in the coming months.

YHC,
-Coco
