Saturday began with a blanket of humid goodness covering the friendly confines of CARPEx. Seven PAX decided to see what YHC had cooked up, including Ollie with some run EC and McCants finishing out the six pack.
As 0700 rolled around, Skyline two-wheeled it into the parking lot, and as YHC was feeling generous, we stuck around for a couple minutes for him to prepare his soul for what lay ahead. Another car pulled in, and we all thought it was destined for other business at the Senior Center. Not today! Schnitzel, newly relocated from Columbia/Lake Murray, was finishing his tour of the parking lots and joined us. Welcome Schnitzel!
Short run to the small picnic shelter for typical warm-up fare: 20 SSH, 10 Gooooooood Mooooooorning, Sir Fazio’s (Schnitzel says they just call them arm circles in SC. Road trip, Fazio!), MCs. Hold the plank and do 5x 4-count.. something jacks. YHC had to admit to stealing these from Gronk @ The Crick. You’re welcome, CARPEx. Like a plank jack, but move your arms too. Union Jacks?
Fellowship run through the trails (with one false turn) to the rock pile. Select a rock. YHC used a “challenge weight” ruck so he could count it as a Pathfinder ruck workout.
Mosey to the spillway where the TOC had not mowed the grass, the rain had soaked the ground, and Bartman had laid out a series of cones in a straight line, about 10 yards apart. They could’ve been a little farther, in retrospect.
The Thang was stolen from Tinker in Charleston:
Start with the PAX in a line at one end of the cones. PAX line perpendicular to cone line.
- Walk from start cone to next cone, while doing 40x curls with rock.
- Run to the end cone, backwards run back to the start cone.
- Add an exercise each time. Forward run gets shorter, backwards run stays the same.
- Start with just curls x40
- Traveling merkins x15; 30 curls, 10 overhead press; run.
- Broad jump forward, short hop back. Merkins, 20/20 curls/OHP.
- Injured bear crawl (right leg up; next time left leg up)… 20 curls, 10 OHP, 10 goblet squat.
- Side shuffle suicide (go out to cone, come back, then out again).
- Short interlude for Freddie Mercury x41 (early Bartman birthday, I’ll miss y’all this week!)
- Burpees x10, back to curls x40 #populardemand
- Lunge walk
- Another break for FM x30 and a couple of 10-counts.
- High knees.. and the rest.
Rocks are still at the end, so AYG back to the end, retrieve rocks, and mosey back to the pile to deposit them with loving care to the TOC’s rock stash.
Indian run back to the parking lot. Totally not just ‘cuz Bartman still had his ruck on and couldn’t muster much more than an IR. Totally.
