My wife and I stopped going out for Valentines a couple of years ago. Too cold and too crowded for our taste. And, whenever you went out to dinner, the restaurants wouldn’t let you just order off the regular menu. It’s always “Pre Fixe” where you get a number of courses for a flat fee and no substitutions. Soup, Salad, Main and Dessert. It always takes a long time and one of the courses ends up sucking.

So, in that vein the men of Whiplash gathered on a cold Saturday morning, February 13, to celebrate Valentines Day with YHC. I had been in the kitchen prepping all night and was ready to serve up something nice.

First Course – Soup – Circle up in the main parking lot for 20 count each of SSH, Good mornings, and windmill.

Second Course – Salad – Run down the greenway trail to the lower parking lot, around it and to the back side of the lot just before the pond. 20 burpees and then Jack Webb’s brother, Frank with WW2 sit-ups and low slow flutter up to 10.

Third Course – From the Sea – Partner up and run opposite directions around the pond. 10 partner clap merkens every time you meet your partner. 4 times completely around. ended up being ~80 merkens total. Plank work while waiting for all PAX to clean their plates.

Fourth Course – From the Land – Run up to the blue loop trail by the dojo to the top of the hill near the rings of fire. 20 merkens, 20 lbcs, 20 squats then run downhill past the big corn cob sculpture to the bottom of the hill near the rock piles. 20 star jumps. Then run up hill on the trail through the woods to the top for 20 carolina dry docks, 20 monkey humpers, and 20 freddy mercury’s. Back the way we came, stopping for star jumps in the same place, and continuing through the circuit. Most PAX did this circuit down and back two to two and one half times. Plank work while waiting for all PAX to clean their plates.

Palate Cleansing Sorbet – Indian Run back to where we were served the 2nd course.

Dessert – 10 burpees and then Valentines 11s of Hindu Merkens and Homer to Marge.

After Dinner Drink – Fellowship run back through lower parking lot to bottom of drive and then all out run up-hill to the main lot. Circle up for mary of box cutters x 20, LBCs x 20, and 6 inch leg hold around the circle.

TASTING NOTES – After the seafood course Fava Bean tried to ditch his date at the bar. don’t think they were hitting it off as he dropped the quickest ten count ever heard as his partner was still making his way to join the group. The Valentines 11s were a huge hit, but thank goodness no one outside of our group saw us.

Welcome FNG Disclaimer!! A name well earned. He gutted it out and pushed himself hard, but one of the courses must not agreed with him or there was food poisoning as he splashed a little merlot during the after dinner drinks. During COT we / I realized YOC never gave the pre-workout disclaimer so it was given then and a new name was born. Welcome and great work.
