On my virgin Q at F3 Ricochet, many ideas were going through my head. In almost 3 years in the gloom, YHC had never posted at Roanoke Park in the former Heavy Metal days and certainly never for Ricochet being a new AO. I wasn’t familiar with the neighborhood so the night before I spent some time filling out my F3 bracket and zooming in/out on Google Maps trying to get the lay of the land. In the end, 4 PAX were treated to a training run for the Krispy Kreme Challenge. Here’s what went down.
523am – YHC pulls up to Roanoke Park. No visible PAX in sight. Maybe this is Bazarro world and the “top of the park” off Aycock, is really the “bottom of the park” down by Bickett? YHC drives down and back around to the top. Still no PAX – 526am.
527am – still no PAX…wait…looks like a lone jogger emerging from the gloom. YHC steps out of the car. Soon after, a couple others join us. No sign of Myrtle.
530am – 4 PAX ready to go…wait another minute…let’s get moving…still no Myrtle.
Run down W. Aycock towards Glenwood Ave. Left on Glenwood to Peace Street. Brief stop for the six. Left on Peace towards Meredith. Run to the Krispy Kreme – 2 miles. Plank hold under the large KK sign waiting for the six. Man it smells good.
YHC noticed the KK wasn’t open – 547am. No problem. Time for some PT. 3 sets of the following.
Set 1: 25 Merkins, 25 Freddy Mercury’s, 25 Prisoner Squats, 10 half burpees
Set 2: 25 Wide Grip Merkins, 25 Flutter Kicks, 25 Squats, 10 half burpees
Set 3: 25 Carolina Dry Docks, 25 LBC’s, 25 Squats with hands up, back, front, 10 half burpees
HOT DOUGHNUTS NOW sign – fully lit
Set 4: Mosey into KK, wait for the #sadclown to finish ordering 6 dozen glazed, order 4 glazed and enjoy a quick 1/12th of the KKC. Grab a paper hat.
Run back the same route we came. 2 miles to Roanoke Park.
Finish with 10 half burpees.
COT: Name-o-rama. No announcements that I recall. Tarp closed us out in prayer.
As always, it was a pleasure to lead you this AM.
