It’s been about a year since my last Ambassador post.  Linda was the Q, Dr Quinn was an FNG, and YHC was enlightened with “2X11s”.  Chavis Park, the other half of Pullen, is glass full of opportunities and spirit, healing and health, knowledge and wisdom….  Ambassador has its fill of F3 opportunities; fields, tennis courts, track, hills, informal pullup station, and so on. But it is very unique with its proximity. And though F3 in Raleigh still remains mostly WASPy, the men of F3 are no strangers to taking what is available and finding value, creating challenges, using the natural resources to sharpen the mind, body and spirit, not just for ourselves but also for our fellow man. It is our Freedom in Action, fought for by the very John Chavis himself. And the proximity allows for greater reach, to reach to men, like ourselves, that want and need to be sharpened, honed.

9 men show and were ready at 7. No FNGs……..? A virtual outsider, YHC was not aware of Ambassador protocols that Horsehair delivers, the Healing Transitions men will arrive around 7:10. With that, YHC calculates a quick adjustment, and 9 men were off to the sandbox parking lot for pre warmup. SSH. Imp walker. Mtn climbers. Low plank hold. Good am.

We head back as the HT men arrive and continue with windmills, adj tempo LBC’s, merkins.

We commence to the picnic shelter, picking up two additional pax. Now with FNG Derek in tow, disclaimer shared with 13 pax.

It is quite chilly and wet; we continue to warmup with ½ Cindy:  5 pullups, 10 merkins, 15 squats, 10 rounds.  There was lots of heart, with the occasional grunt. Spirit remained strong but bodies were wearing thin. YHC calls audible to move on. Texas Pete, Fry Daddy, and Butane made the full 10 rounds with several near completion.

Mosey to the bottom of the Chavis Way hill. Men in squat position whilst YHC attempted to explain next round. Though there was some visible pax befuddlement, which is often the case with YHC, we shoved off:

  • 75% uphill to first light pole, mosey back
  • 75% uphill to second light pole, return, slow mosey to the first pole, run back to start.
  • 75% uphill to third light pole, return, slow mosey to the first pole, run back to start.
  • Dying cockroach waiting on the 6, then 10 cc [Horsehair takes the reigns and returns with the 6]
  • 75% uphill to fourth light pole, return, slow mosey to the first pole, run back to start.
  • 75% uphill to fifth light pole, return, slow mosey to the first pole, run back to start.
  • 6” leg hold waiting on the 6, then 10 cc [Horsehair again returns with the 6]
  • AYG to the 4th light pole, return, slow mosey
  • LBCs waiting on the 6, then 10 cc [Horsehair again returns with the 6]
  • Backwards run to top of hill

By this time, several of the pax are ready to hurl. Well YHC certainly assumed the position. But no Merlot

Mosey to the tennis courts for 3 rounds, 3 line suicides, while group 2 hammers, Heels to Heaven, Homer to Marge. Flapjack.

Mosey to carousel for Mary lead by the men that have yet to Q: WWII. Protractor. LBCs

Prayers for Hash browns wife recovering from breast cancer and Texas Pete’s buddy going through chemo. Praises to FNG Bo Berry from Boston whose first job was at Bojangles.

YHC took us out.

Ambassador is a great place to get out of your normal routine, unless it is your routine. Lift the weight of your caring by doing.

Great to see 5 Healing Transitions men in the pax. F3 is as difficult as you make it. Each of these men made it more today.

YHC is 1 and 2 on Basketball bets [F3 Q’s] for the year. I challenge each of you to create the opportunity to move outside of your normal F3 range to serve your fellow F3 men in a new environment.

If you want to place a Q bet on any of the UK games during March Madness, winner chooses the location, DM me @Plainpocket
