“Will it burn me if I touch the sun? So big, so round…” Jimi asked the question back in 1967 over a layer of blues-fuzz, steady marching chords on the monster record, Are You Experienced?

The PAX asked this very same question on a scorcher of an August day on the hallowed grounds of F3Catalyst. And so, we took the risk, reached out and touched the sun. Here’s how we got burned:

MOLESKINE:
. Outstanding work all around, gents. And if you want to see some inspirational Mericans, stand back and watch the work of our man, Dain Bramage. The kid’s got game.
. Ham Bone picked up quickly on YHC’s somewhat silly adopted habit of putting an H at the beginning of each cadence count, and poked a little fun with an exaggerated drill sergeant response. Brought a smile to the pain.
. Mini, in usual form, pushed it hard and paid the price. He never goes halfway.
. Turkish Bath was getting after it. Hadn’t seen him in a while, so was glad to see him in the gloom.
. Costco and Blue Horseshoe burned it up on the Wheel Of Confusion. Nice work.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
. 9/11 Stair Climb at Carter-Finley – Be there and EH another man. The speaker at the end will be well worth hearing. If you’re running the BRR, show up at the stair climb for support in F3 black. Or, better yet, make it your Bonus BRR Leg.
. Healing Transitions – A few of the Arena PAX who have been Healing Transitions residents recovering from addiction and re-ordering their lives will graduate this coming Thursday. See Duff or Countrywide for details, but come out and support them as they make a new start.
. Gear for Healing Transitions – If you’ve got not-overused running shoes, shorts, shirts and socks, get them to Duff, Countrywide, Zima or others for the HT guys to wear for workouts.

PRAYERS
. Requests for healing from leukemia and cancer. For comfort in the loss of a man (forgive me, can’t remember his name) who was a father and leader and died this past week. For families sending kids off to college this week. For a friend of Dain Bramage who suffered paralysis from diving into a shallow pool.
. YHC shared that in the book of Joshua, the man Joshua takes over for Moses, so he’s got big shoes to fill. He stands on the east side of the Jordan River and prepares to cross over. Everything on the other side will be war and conflict. So the Lord speaks to him and says “Be strong and courageous, for I am with you.” He doesn’t tell him to be strong and courageous because Joshua has great equipment or strong soldiers or mighty horses. He says to Joshua, “Be strong and courageous, FOR I AM WITH YOU.” Men, as we walk with the Lord each day, we find strength and courage when we remember, “God is with me. He’s my strength. He’s my help.” And we walk in that. Aye.

Thanks for the chance to lead. That’s enough out of me. Tuck, out.
