The first time YHC signed up to Q Dawn Patrol, Old Man Winter blasted Raleigh with 2015’s second snowstorm.  This was the worst of the two with 8+ inches of heavy snow that took out power overnight.  YHC’s 1999 Camry couldn’t make it out of the driveway, so it was a no-go that morning.

YHC then signs up to essentially “makeup” the snowed-out workout.  It was mid-March, and that morning witnessed an unseasonably ferocious thunderstorm that hit around 5am.  Although the brunt of the storm passed by launch, only a PAX of 4 were willing to face the elements.

This time would be different, right?  Not so much.  YHC wakes up around 4:45 to a clap of thunder and audible heavy rain.  Now this just must be tradition.  Fortunately, the storm passed right before launch, and it really didn’t hit Laurel Hills.  However, only 4 other PAX hawked the radar and/or flat out didn’t care about the storm.  Costco half-joked after YHC mentioned his weather luck, “are you sure it’s the weather?”.  Great rhetorical question there, Costco.  No FNGs, waiver stated, we’re off.

Warm Up

Brisk jog around perimeter of parking lot, end at the bottom by the sidewalk.

Sprint to the top of first row –> SSH X 20

Sprint down the second row –> 10 burpees OYO

Sprint up the next row –> 10 Star Jumps

Brisk mosey to the basketball courts

Nipplers X 20

Sprint to opposite sideline and back, then exercises in between…Squats, Merkins, Burpees

Brisk mosey down path towards bottom field…stop at pond path intersection for a little plank-o-rama (high hold, Sarkozy/Putin, chilcutt, low hold)

Jog down pond path to base of knoll that leads up to the back of the gym… bear crawl up the natural path, dubbed “Bunny Alley” (luckily nicer than the one from Monty Python & Holy Grail), to the top of tree line at rock pile.

 

Grab a rock

Rock Curls X 20 — run to opposite back corner of gym and back

Rock Press X 20 — run down & back

Bent over row X 20 — run down & back

Jack Webb’s — standard merkin + rock press (this hurt)

Brisk mosey down to the bottom field and line up by near soccer goal for sprints & abs

Bear crawl to mystery rock, sprint the rest of way > LBCs X 20

Sprint down and back
