Great morning in the gloom for kettle bells. YHC agonized as he fell asleep, trying to formulate a pain plan for the PAX. It’s not easy to be original at the Blitz. There’s only so much ground you can cover while still keeping the integrity of a workout primarily using kettle bells. As the alarm rang at 4:55, a vague plan was in place. It wasn’t fully formulated until arrival. And it was painful.

21 PAX emerged. A few Blitz newbies including 2.0, Mean Joe Greene. A brief crash course was given by Cut Me Mick to the young man and away we went.

Grass by the track for warm-ups: Good mornings x20, Imperial Walker x20, Figure 8 x20, Egg beaters x10 each arm.

Onto the track. Find a partner with a similar size bell. Four corners of the track, repeat 25 reps of an exercise. For the 100m between each station, one partner farmer carries the bells while the other does 10 merkins and then runs to the next station (YHC mistakenly said “firemen’s carry”, clarification was quickly made by the PAX). Each partner got to farmer carry twice per lap. The 200m you got to jog, the only bell relief for the set. Same exercise each lap.

25 swings x4

25 curls x4

25 Hammers w/bell x4

15 Goblet Squats x4.

Final set we were low on time, hence the fewer reps. For those keeping score at home that’s 100 KB swings, 100 curls, 100 hammers, and 60 squats. The real pain came from farmer carrying 100m after each set. By the end of a set, the struggle was real. Special T-Claps to the Vila, Cindy, Mick trifecta who crushed the sets with 50 pound (I think?) bells. Clarify in the comments if that feat was more impressive than YHC gave credit for. Either way, strong work.

Mosey back up to the parking lot for x20 Bell-BCs for Mary, despite the fact we were already over on time.

Announcements: Arena’s own Torch graduates from Healing Place next Thursday night, go show your support if you can. MacGruber is starting a workout for Haven House once a month, similar deal to The Arena. Help be an influence in the life of these young men, talk to MacGruber for details. Gov’t Cheese is looking for a BRR substitute (as of 6:15 this morning).

Prayer requests: Cherrie Berry’s mother in law’s surgery. Man Ram’s family as they adjust to having an exchange student in their home.

Well done by all the PAX this morning. We even got 3 bonus minutes, or as YHC likes to call it, “Shaggy Time”. Nothing like a post-Blitz morning where the hands uncontrollably shake while you sip coffee. Fazio took us out.
