4 PAX came out this monday morning to DETOX their bodies of the past transgressions. IT was cold, but our hearts were on fire.
We started with 2 laps around the track, followed by 5 laps around the gauntlet made up of an agility ladder, sprints, and cone drills. After some light stretching, we rolled right into a pyramid of pain. 10 down to 2 of Merkins, Flutterkicks, LBCs, American Hammers, Plank holds, and Freddie Mercuries. To finish out the morning we lost ourselves in 25 burpees.
I came this morning with anger in my heart, a feeling brought on by misunderstanding. How someone who is surrounded by his brothers could take his own life. But I am quickly reminded that we are becoming more connected with the outside world, and less connected with what is right in front of us. ANd the need for groups like F3 is evident now more than ever. Do not wait for your friends, your brothers to come to you. You HAVE to reach out to them. You have to connect with those that live around you, on a regular basis. It is the only way we will survive.
SFC Grant Shanaman, 3/75th Ranger Regiment veteran, friend, father of 4 took his own life last week. He has been going through hard times, being kicked out of the military because he was his children’s only caregiver and his family care plan was denied. Even though he was surrounded by his brothers, he felt so hopeless, that he took what he thought was the only way out. The Ranger community failed him, I FAILED HIM. I will not let that happen again.
This morning was for you Shanimal. May you find the peace you were looking for. One for the Airborne Ranger in the Sky!!
Prayers for his family, the SOF community. Prayers for Labrats wife who is dealing with pregnancy pain.
F3 Darby Challenge is coming up soon, so get your teams together and lets crush it.
