A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope and this is what they said
What started out as a likely ill-advised idea between 4 somewhat lubricated PAX members a few weeks ago, came to fruition this morning in the gloom as the first ever F3 Power Ballad workout took the stage at Crucible before a Motley Crue of 19 mostly incredulous (but game) PAX members.
The playlist was carefully curated the day before by YHC to take everyone on a 45 minute Journey through the glorious 80’s hair metal days. While it would have been easy to pull together a list of screamin’ rockers, this PAX deserved more. That would be too easy, this group needed challenge: to knock out some merkins, dips, and burpees to a soundtrack more suited for makin’ out in a Chevy Nova or waving a lighter than pushing the bounds of human endurance. With that challenge before us, we set out for the stars…
The Thang
Warm up (Styx – Come Sail Away) OYO SSH, Good Mornings, Mountain Climbers, Imperial Walkers
Paint the lines with a jump out after each rotation (REO Speedwagon – Keep On Loving You)
Jog around the field (W/ high knees & butt kickers) (Aerosmith – Angel)
Picnic Shelter OYO Dips, Irkins, Dips, Derkins (Motley Crue – Home Sweet Home) Apparently we stumbled upon ManRam’s go to karaoke jam here at which point he began belting out a rendition that would have made Vince Neil nervous. YHC is picking ManRam first in the upcoming 2nd F F3 Karaoke Team Challenge (Costco, when is the date on that again?)
Picnic Shelter cont. OYO Prisoner Squats, Alternating Left/Right Step Ups, Dips (Warrant – Sometimes She Cries)
Run to Field OYO 10 merkins, 10 WW2 Situps, 10 start jumps, Repeato (Night Ranger – Sister Christian)
Run to parking lot, 11’s from one end to the other with Carolina dry docks and prisoner squats on either end (Journey – Faithfully)
Run back to field OYO AMRAP burpees (Kiss – Beth)
Mary OYO LBC’s, Rosalita’s, WW2 situps, American Hammers (Poison – Every Rose Has It’s Thorn)
COT
YHC would like to thank the PAX for their indulgence on this little experiment. Louder speaker is a must for next time.
Announcements – Quickhatch (ruck workout) has started on Saturdays 6:15 – 7:00 at the Crick. No ruck needed for this week’s workout. The Mule – October 25th. Pay up if you’re riding down on the bus to the Mud Run.
Prayer Concerns – Sounds Denali is doing well and should be 100% shortly.
ManRam took us out.
