YHC decided to finish up his birthday week on a positive note at The Arena. And with the call made earlier in the week for HH to go down at Tyler’s, YHC decided to add a little to his day. YHC arrived at Tyler’s around 1:15 to make the jog to Pullen where the remaining pax would meet at 2:00 and jog to THP. First thing YHC noticed was that the mild Fall like weather was gone and the mercury was in the high 80’s, secondly he still dislikes running. At Pullen with plenty of time to spare, YHC reclined on one of the benches in the stone circle, quite the difference from the gloom.
The pax grew to 6 at Pullen and we were off to THP, on our way thare Herring was spotted in his F3 gear headed back to meet us. Having arrived with plenty of time to spare, YHC set the task and the pax set out to encourage men of THP into the Arena. Knowing one was in place, soon Front Porch emerged, followed soon thereafter by Skyline and Butane. YHC noted an FNG that didn’t quite seem to be in the program, Skyline had recruited the Raven’s quarterback who was volunteering for the afternoon at THP, we would later find out this was no accident. Finally the time had arrived, our number was 13 and it was time to get started.
The Thang:
COP in grass by courtyard, SSH, IW’s, GA’s, Merican’s to warm up.
Jog to the volleyball court for our first bit of work, burpee broad jump to the end of the court, head to the rocks across the street for another COP. Insert Cinderella, fashionably late without his Arena gear, just in time to grab a rock 4 sizes to large. Several rounds of work in the shade with multiple rock rotating, glad YHC didn’t get Cindy’s.
Put your rock up and find a partner, line up in front of the rocks facing the tracks. Partner 1 AMRAP of an exercise while partner 2 runs, then flip flap. Five trips for everyone in the heat and dust to the tracks & back.
Back across the street for another COP, this time we finished the day off with an LBC pyramid to 25 and back, DONE!
COT: FNG Ned from Ravenscroft, more on that later, Shepherd earned a shirt, Cinderella was not pleased with his selection of shirt for the afternoon, he felt it called too much attention to a life of privilege. Zima shared that 18 years prior on this date he had lost a good friend to a sudden heart event, someone who obviously meant a lot to the Z man, someone who he played football with. And how remarkable it was that this random QB “Ned” just happened to be at the Arena today. Zima determined that God had placed Ned there today to help remind him of a friend lost too soon. YHC is thankful that our God is good like that and reminds us at just the right time how blessed we are even in the tough times.
The Skin: Great work by all, running sucks, I’m now 40, God is good, thankful for the pax and for the warmth of summer even as fall approaches, good to see a few new faces from Raleigh pax at Arena, running still sucks, embrace the suck!
C-Dubb out!
