8 PAX answered the call on an already-75-degree morning for what would be, unbeknownst to them, a tour of Western Wake County.

Short delay as Callahan noted the lack of a deployed shovel flag, which Banjo dutifully corrected.  Short jog to the community center and circle up:  SSH, GM, IW, and a crowd-pleaser round of Little Man Jumping Jacks.  (Little Baby Jumping Jacks?  Burt Jumping Jacks?)

Enough of all that nonsense, on to some other nonsense:

  • Mosey on down the spillway hill toward the kiosk, stop at the picnic tables for
  • 20x left-right step-up
  • 15x dips.

Another mosey over to where the lake drains (very slowly, today) for 20x Irkins. It was at this point we noticed but did not ID the orange snake hanging out in the water by the rocks. Note to future QICs – keep a sharp eye if you decide this rock pile is the one you want!

We(?) decided the best course of action would be to turn our backs on the snake and do 10x dirkins, then mosey on over to the steps.

Set of 8’s, which was actually 9’s because YHC can’t math. I also may not be able to count, as I know Banjo was ahead of me. Maybe he did extra?

  • Run to top of steps, 8x sumo squat jumps.
  • Jog to bottom of steps, 1x plank jack.  Repeato down to 1/8.

Mosey on down the black creek greenway, away from our friendly squamate.  Stop along the way and bear crawl across the foot bridge. Disco Duck wisely chose to take it easy at this point rather than risk exacerbation of a tweaked back.

PAX continue on, amidst mumble-chatter questioning YHC’s distance ambitions, reassuring the PAX that we would not be going all the way to NC-55 this morning, nor attempting to out-Hotspot Hotspot. Stop at Cary Parkway tunnel entrance, henceforth known as the Tunnel Of Grumble. (Largemouth correctly predicted our destination.) Sprint through ToG to other side.

Find a non-snake-infested rock and:

  • 15x curls
  • 15x overhead press
  • 15x tricep extension

Sprint back through ToG, then jog it back to the parking lot by way of the ball field fork. Stop at field #6 for some people’s chair to allow our own 6 to rejoin.

Back to parking lot, reunite with Disco Duck just in time for 2 minutes of Mary:

  • Boxcutters x15?
  • American Hammer x20

COT.  Prayers for F3 brothers with family challenges; Disco Duck’s back – we all hope it’s a momentary inconvenience. Burt and Banjo aren’t chiropractors, nor did they stay at Holiday Inn Express, but they offered sage advice nonetheless.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead and learn once again.  Relentless forward progress.
