10 hearty PAX started their week of right at A-team today on the chilliest morning since last Winter. You can tell it’s starting to get cold when Ma Bell opts for the short sleeves (instead of going sleeveless).  YHC’s approach to staying warm is to keep moving, which we did.

Start with two quick laps around the parking lot loop (8:15 pace per Hotspot’s Garmin).  Then circle up for a mostly standard warm up:

  • 35 Merkins (1 for each degree Fahrenheit at 5:45am)
  • 20 Mountain Climbers, IC
  • 25 Side Straddle Hops, IC
  • 15 Imperial Walkers, IC
  • 15 Good Mornings, IC

Now grab a rock for what is becoming a crowd favorite… 11s on the hill while carrying your rock. Rock burpees at the top, rock jump squats at the bottom.  You know the workout is effective when you begin to see layers of clothing being stripped and tossed aside, and you hear Ma Bell hating on his sleeves.

Return your rock and jog to the shelter for picnic a table pyramid.  5/10/15/10/5 OYO:

  • Box Jumps
  • Derkins
  • Dips

Jog to the basketball court for old-school sprints.  Time is tight.  Also some speculation that further explanation is needed, and YHC’s voice doesn’t carry very well so that is a potential area of improvement.  In any case, only 1 sprint completed.

Mary:

  • 20 Freddy Mercuries, IC
  • 15 Low Slow Flutters, IC
  • 20 American Hammers, IC

2.33 miles covered.  Don’t know what the A-team record is but that’s pretty good.

Announcements:

  • Not much detail, but, we hear our A-team regulars Bartman and Denali completed GoRuck this past weekend.  Congrats to them and all the participants!
  • Best of luck to Hotspot and all others doing the Tuna Run this weekend
  • Q’s needed at the Cary area locations over the next couple months, most notably next week at A-team

Prayers:

  • Banjo’s cousin in his battle with cancer
  • Hotspot’s friend who lost his wife unexpectedly over the weekend

Grease Monkey took us out in typical strong fashion.

It was an honor as always.
