7 hearty (or is that foolhardy?) PAX eschewed the #fartsack for what I believe was the first rainy morning at SnS. It got me up early, rethinking my plan and scrambling to figure out which shelter we could get to without a thorough soaking.
As the rain let up just in time and the radar looked clear, the Q decided to stick with Plan A, in so far as it could be called a plan.
Off to the community center lot for a warm-up COP:
- Good morning x10
- SSH x25
- Mountain climber x20
- Imperial Walker x15
- LittleManJumpingJack x10
Down to the trail map kiosk for The Thang:
- Kiosk is “home”. Do 10 merkins any time you come back here. Do 3 out-and-back legs:
- Run to the gloom-obscured trail marker post by the lake and do 10 burpees OYO.
- Quadraphelia: backwards run on paved path up the hill from whence we came. 20 LBCs. Forward run on the way down so the quads get double jeopardy. #feeltheburn
- Run to the dock near the boat house, 10 squat jumps.
- Everyone managed to get 4 reps of this done. Nice work, gentlemen.
Indian run the long way back to the parking lot (toward spillway, through the woods and up the shallower slope). All told we covered 2.7 miles, much of that 100 yards at a time. That’s not so bad, eh?
Mary:
- Boxcutter x15
- Superman – a few reps up/down and then 5ct around circle
- Freddy Mercury x20
- American Hammer x25
COT/Devo:
With YHC’s recent odometer rollover, I’ve been 1) fixated on the number 40 and 2) taking stock of my story thus far. This past Sunday, #Babyface gave a sermon about “Writing a new story.” All this made me think about two bits of scripture:
Pslam 40:1-3 – I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.
He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God;
Isaiah 43:18-19 – “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth;”
I like both of these a lot, for different reasons. The reference to waiting patiently is something I think we can all relate to. Being a #HIM doesn’t, on the surface, lend itself to waiting patiently. I’m constantly having to remind myself that I’m not on my schedule, I’m on His. That’s tough.
As for the rest, I don’t think I’m in a horrible pit, mind you — but I like the way that not only does God bring us out of whatever pit we’re in — that would be enough — but puts a new song in our mouth.
Isaiah is quoting the LORD in this passage – promising to do a New Thing. If you read my last BB, I referenced some of the folly of youth. I was debating whether to write any of that. I like that we are encouraged here to continue to let God write that new story in our lives, and yes, draw upon our experiences, but be free to go forward with no memory of our former selves. He certainly doesn’t.
Thanks for listening this morning, guys, and thanks for taking the #DRP on a day when not many would choose to. That’s part of writing the new story as well. Get up, decide who you want to be TODAY and go be it.
Prayers for Callahan’s work situation. YHC took us out.
