If today wasn’t a record for attendance at the Jungle, I don’t know what day would’ve beaten it. Great to see Gnobby, Costco, and Larry David back in the mix! After a super-lame semi-disclaimer from YHC, and after YHC failed to even check for FNGs, we formed 2 lines and did an Indian Run (per Yoda, a Caucasian Male Run) around North Hills to get the blood flowin’. From there, we did a real warmup, consisting of:


  • SSH x 20
  • Good Morning x 15
  • Standard Merkin x 15
  • Imperial Walker x 20

The Thang

YHC came prepared with his orange cone today, and we placed that in the middle of the lot as a spot marker. First exercise was to run to the cone and do 5 of an exercise. Then, run to the far end of the lot for 10 of the same exercise, back to the cone for 15 reps, then back to the starting end of the lot. With this model, we completed:

  • Round 1 – Standard Merkins
  • Round 2 – Squats
  • Round 3 – Alternating Left/Right Lunge Jump
  • Round 4 – Star Jumps
  • Round 5 – Standard Merkins
  • Round 6 – Burpees
  • Final Round – Lunge walk to cone, sprint to end, lunge walk back to cone, sprint to start

In between all this goodness, we held position in plank formation. YHC threw in a couple of Putins/Sarkozys and stuff to mix it up. Next, we recovered on the run, around behind Target to the road behind the back parking lot. We bear-crawled the flat part, and jumped down into the pit for rock work:

  • Bent-over rows x 20
  • Overhead press x 20
  • Curls x 20
  • Bent-over rows x 20
  • Overhead press x 20

Head up out of the pit, up the hill toward OfficeMax. Sprint to the corner where REI is, then fellowship pace recovery run back to the Shovel Flag.
