So many parties this time of year, why not add another one to the mix?  T-claps to our Healing Transitions brothers who actually came up with the idea of having an Arena Christmas party – keep it simple by having a normal workout from 2:30 – 3:00, then some good ole’ basic fellowship with coffee and cookies in the cafeteria until 3:30.  This was a great time and a good chance to get to know some of our HT brothers outside of the afternoon gloom.

17 pax were treated to a Christmas themed co-Q from YHC and Country Wide.

WARMUPS (Duff)

SSH x 20, Good Afternoon x 15, Jingle Balls x 20, Standard Merkin x 5, Wide Grip Merkin x 5, Diamond Merkin x 5

THANG

Head over to the field across from the gas tank.  There we find 8 cones laid out in the shape of a massive Christmas tree, with a rock at top to act as the star.  There are 3 steps to decorating a Christmas tree:

Step 1 (Hang the Lights):  Start lower left corner, defensive slide to other cone, bear crawl up to next cone, slide the other way, bear crawl up, etc. until you reach the top.

Step 2 (Ornaments):  All pax grab an ornament / rock and start at lower right cone.  Slide to other side with rock above head, run up to next cone with rock in front of you, etc. until reach the top.  Tree looking a little bare so repeat, but rock in front of you while sliding side to side and above head when running up.

Step 3 (Put up Star):  15 star jump burpees OYO.  Return rocks and hand the Q to CW.

In same field, CW introduces the HT pax to the 12 Days of Christmas routine:

1st day:  1 Double Merkin Burpee
2nd day: 2 Prisoner Squats
3rd day:  3 WWII sit-ups
4th day:  4 Spider Man Merkins
5th day:  5 Monkey Humpers
6th day:  6 Dirty Birds (some good mumblechatter here, as always)
7th day:  7 Freddie Mercury
8th day:  8 Mountain Climbers
9th day:  9 King David Kicks
10th day:  10 Carolina Dry Docks
11th day:  11 Burpees
12th day:  12 Plank Jacks

COT

Announcements, prayer requests, praises and some sobriety dates were shared.  Shirts earned by Terminator and Jet Ski – good job men.  Butane earned his Silver Chip at the previous night’s Transition Ceremony.

Time to head to the cafeteria for the Fellowship 30, where Highlander, Orwell and Vector Victor were waiting for us.

2016 was a great year for The Arena.  We moved it to a weekly workout based on the requests of our HT brothers, and the change has been very well received.  There are a core group of HT pax that have embraced F3 and it is a blessing to watch them grow every week and encourage other HT clients to get out there and give the Arena a try.  HT graduates like Herring, Torch, and now Butane continue to post at other F3 Raleigh workouts and come back to the Arena when they can.  Fry Daddy and Texas Pete have become regulars at Ambassador on Saturdays and both are planning to do the Go Ruck in April.

It is difficult to set aside time on Friday afternoons, but if you have not yet come to The Arena, make one of your 2017 goals to be to post at The Arena at least a few times.

Merry Christmas!
