16 PAX accepted Ma Bell and Franklin’s invitation to attend the 1 year anniversary “party” at Field of Dreams. The rest of the men of Cary/Apex..I don’t know. Whatever. We don’t need you anyway. The real men of Cary/Apex were there. So…… As we gathered for the customary small talk, Sputnik revealed he had forgotten his gloves. With Ma Bell Qing. Bad move, bruh. You know we’ll be doing some merkins! Nobody rolling up hot, no FNGs, let’s roll.

The Warmup
Run down around the cars, back up to the top of the parking lot, down the dark path and over to the main road leading to the USA baseball parking lot. Circle up for some baseball-themed exercises, reminiscent of the first workout 2/3/15. Exercises will be in multiples of 3 and/or 9:

  • SSH x 21 in cadence
  • Good Mornings x 12 (OK, it was 13. Shut up.) in cadence
  • Apollo Onos x 12 in cadence
  • Merkins x 27 in cadence slow count (3 down, 1 up). Audible grunting from the PAX started at around 19

Get in defensive athletic position, stay low, and shuffle over to the bottom of the hill maybe 30 yards away.

The Thang
Here’s where it got real fun. Let’s start with Grand Slam Hill Suicides

  • AYG to the first light pole, 1 Star Jump (after all, we’re celebrating), jog back down, perform 1 Clurpee (we’re clapping for our team’s run scored)
  • AYG to the 2nd light pole, 2 Star Jumps, jog back down, 2 Clurpees
  • AYG to the 3rd light pole, 3 Star Jumps, jog back down, 3 Clurpees
  • AYG to the mailbox at the top of the hill, 4 start jumps, jog back down, 4 Clurpees
    Squat hold when you’re done

When all PAX have arrived, a few minutes of plank-o-rama, then on your 6 for 21 x LBC in cadence.

Repeato the Grand Slam Hill Suicide, except AYG backwards run up the hill with Tuck Jumps at each light pole, jog back down, and Clerkins at the bottom. YHC called an audible after the trip up to the 3rd light pole to preserve Franklin’s time. So, it was a bases-loaded triple instead of a grand slam. Thighs started to burn at the first light pole. Note to self, it’s hard to get legs up for a tuck jump after running uphill backwards. Squat hold after the triple until all PAX arrive.

Franklin said AYG up the rutted, muddy path to the fence and get into a People’s Chair. Transition to BTTW with a 9 count down the line. Follow Franklin along the fence toward the back of USA Baseball complex, through the new mulch by the graveyard, and into the complex. Everybody down the stairs and back up twice, then incline plank hold.

Pair up for some catcher drills. As a pair, do 365 squats – one at a time while partner runs down the stadium steps alternating trips back up with runs, two legged-hops, right leg hop, and left leg hop. Thighs on fire now. When done, incline plank hold until all teams complete the drill.

Follow Franklin back out the secret entrance into the new mulch, past the graveyard and into a clearing and do 9 Merkins. Continue along the fence, down the rutted, muddy path and do 9 Diamond Merkins. Indian Run back to the basketball court for:

  • Announcements: K2C on Saturday. Pre-K2C modified murph at Pullen at 0700 for the real men. Hot Spot reminded the PAX to continue to preach the F3 mantra to sad clowns and recruit. There are a lot of men in need of F3; they just don’t know it yet. Hot Spot also reminded us to look after the 6 during our workouts. No man left behind!
  • Prayers: Praise for PBX’s mother that the cancer is benign, Prayers for Chef Tell’s Aunt and Christie from the church whose father passed away

  • There were two sightings of headlamp runner guy. Dude moves out. I think Michelob took it as a challenge.
  • Hot Spot liked YHC’s cadence on the Good Mornings. As YHC was positioned in front of Hot Spot, YHC thinks “cadence” was code for “form.”
  • Katniss must have coughed up 3½ pounds of phlegm, yet still crushed the PAX on the hill suicides. Stealing Ollie’s idea, Katniss is today’s Bad Ass
