A line of nasty thunderstorms was moving through the Chapel Hill-Durham area early Monday morning. Undeterred, a healthy number of PAX showed up at Eddie Smith Field House (our default number of 24 on the nose) in hopes we could get a beatdown in. The lightning and thunder cracked hard nearby at 5:40 as we weighed our options of moving to one of a couple of nearby parking decks.
Then to our delight our man Bouche appeared with the code to open the door to the indoor track & field and football practice facility. He turned the lights on and, presto, we had the use of the field all to ourselves.
Subprime, who was going to handle the Q on a running-oriented workout outdoors, initiated the festivities with a warmup:
20 x SSH
15 x Imperial Walker
10 x Good Morning
10 x Windmill
20 x mtn climber
10 x merkins
15 x slow merkins.
Then Shooter took over, adapting his plan for a body-weight workout on the outdoor football practice field to the smaller indoor field.
Lining up on one end-line, the Pax bear-crawled 10 yards for four merkins, then continued bear-crawling, stopping at each 10-yard increment to pyramid up the merkins, finishing with 10 at the far end.
Next was walking lunges, stopping every 10 yards to pyramid Carolina Dry Docks.
Then crab walks with WWII situps at each 10-yard juncture.
Then back to bear crawls with burpees at each landmark.
And finally walking lunges with prisoner squats on the 10s.
From there we did three sets of Four-Corners runs. On the first run, we stopped at every corner for 10 merkins. On the next one, 10 CDD. And on the next one, 10 mountain climbers.
And with the thunder crackling above us, we ended with Mary:
LBC x 20
Low-plank hold x 30 seconds.
Freddie Mercury x 15.
Low-plank hold x 30 seconds.
Parker-Peters x 10.
T-Claps to FNG Ocho, now the eighth regular in our group from the Downing Creek subdivision.
