“Late night” — the first words to the fantastic song “Midnight on the Interstate” by the Minnesota band Trampled By Turtles, who I was fortunate enough to see back in December at Meymandi in downtown Raleigh. This was the song I had in my head in the days preceding my maiden Q (and post, by the way) at Late Night — alas, after introducing a few new exercises (“moves”) this morning to a PAX of 20, thoughts of this great piece were trumped by #mumblechatter of boy bands like ‘NSync and One Direction. Secretly, Costco has a crush on Harry Styles — but in his defense, he does have 4 girls in the house. And Maize does kinda resemble Marky Mark #justsayin’.
The thang:
Run down greenway to Kiwanis Park soccer field; circle up for Good Mornings, CDD, Nippler Merkins, 1 legged burpee left leg x 10 OYO, Pop Ups x 10 OYO (click on link for video), 1 legged burpee right leg x 10 OYO. Bear crawl across all greenway bridges for entire workout.
Run to picnic shelter, find a spot for jump up burpees, dips, irkins and derkins all x 15. Repeato x 10. Finish with 5 jump up burpees and 15 dips.
Back to greenway and run towards Biscuitville. Stop on way for 10 180 degree burpees x 10 OYO, plank, merkins and 30 second plank walk.
To rock pile under Wake Forest Road bridge; find a rock for SSH with rock x 50, rock curl x 20, squat jump with rock press x 20, SSH with rock and 15. Replace rocks; run back to start with quick stop for another round of 1 legged burpees x 10 OYO.
At this point (6:44am), YHC bowed out rather than face the wrath of a middle schooler for being late for carpool duty; so #tclaps to Wendell G for leading COT and to Rain Man for collecting PAX names and praying us out.
COT:
Gratitude to Dice for leading the IR workouts — support them if you’re injured, sore or just don’t feel like running. With almost 80% of New Years’ resolutions already broken, it’s a great time of year to get new guys out to F3; pay it forward, PAX.
A pleasure, as always, men….. Have a great weekend.
