19 strong posted at Danger Zone this morning. Was it the promise of a Prince Themed workout or the promise of a new run at the DZ distance record? Was it the beautiful weather, or just interest in seeing if the noshow Q bothered to show up?

Whatever the reason, YHC was there, Bert had prince blaring from his car and at precisely 5:45 the circle for warm up began.

11 – GM, 11 – SSH, 11 – HillBilly – 11 – Merkins (to honor the missing ma bell this morning), 11 – Sir fazio arm circles (both directions) – Yes – we did 55 warm up exercises – and really just so Franklin could ask Tango Papa how many we had done and here him shout out 55 in his southern drawl. Hearing that only during the name o rama at the end is just not enough.

Throw in 1 penalty burpee for Floride’s late arrival and then we were off – on YHC’s attempt at the distance covered record during a DZ Q (or not). DZ is sometimes known as Cary’s premier running workout – and is the premier running workout not advertised as one – but anyway – YHC led the pax off into the gloom. At a brisk pace – we wondered through the park, down the stairs, across the really long bridge – back down the trail and up the back hill that ends back on the road – a nice 3/4 mile warm up run at a brisk pace – just how YHC likes to roll.

At this point, it was time for a climate change so we circled up for some Al Gore with 5 burpees going both directions around the circle while others held the Al Gore. Once finished, Indian Run, back up Cary Parkway and Norwell to the park entrance and onto the field – Really impressed we managed to get 2 1/2 cycles of the Indian run in with this large of a group. At this point YHC had enough of this running BS – so it was time for some shoulder work. First we did – tunnel of love – lots of love in a 19 person pax tunnel – you were supposed to sing a Prince song while going through the tunnel but had limited compliance with this request.

Next we circled up for a bear crawl of fire – entire pax bear crawling in a circle – periodically we would stop for some merkins – regular, then diamond, then wide grip. After the mumble chatter reached a dull roar – we did 5 wide grip GMs – just because – YHC thought they were funny when Chef Tell did them on Tuesday. Count off in 1s and 2s and then run over to the basketball court.

Term Paper helped lead the 1s in a deconstructed burpee ladder – 10 squats, 10 merkins, 10 frog ups and 10 jump squats, then 8, 6, 4 and 2. Meanwhile, YHC had the 2s do some extended peoples chair, BTTW with a 10 count down the line and a lap of the DZ parking lot. The groups flap jacked and then met up again.

Over toward the volleyball court – YHC heard lots of chatter and complaints about the sand – and almost called an audible to get people dirty but stuck with the original plan that involved just 3 cycles up and down the stairs.
Over to the picnic tables for 11 – Alternating L/R, 11 – table top irkins, 11 – dips, 11 – bench irkins and 11 – Alternating L/R. Once again 55 – thanks Term Paper.

Back to the starting position for some brief Mary – for that we brought out Jack Webb’s alter ego, Captain Thor – big boy sit ups and American Hammers – 1:4. We only got up to 5 and 20 before time ran out. Too bad – I think Prince would have loved that one.

COT – 4 respects – 3 of whom were 55; 2 hates and 13 mehs
Announcements – Bartman Qing Phoenix (not sure why this was worthy of an announcement), McCants – pig pickin – in May – details to be shared, F3 event in May – details to be shared, Mumble chatter about minute man mile and beer mile and beer ruck – but announcement quality was breaking down at this point.

Prayer requests – Grease Monkey’s M, Women who works with Coney going through some health issues – and Ollie mentioned some people doing some sort of combo ruck event in Asheville this weekend – i think we were supposed to pray for their mental health – but i might have that wrong.

YHC took us out.

Thanks for all of the energy today men – It is truly an honor to be part of this group.
