12 PAX gather for a cool, not as cool as we thought, morning ready for a merkin beat-down.  We even had a FNG, DNF, join the motley crew this morning.  After a quick disclaimer, we take off down the parking lot, quickly circling up for the:

Warm Up

  • 10 Good Mornings
    20 SSH
    15 Windmills
  • 10 Sir Fazios forward and backward

The Thang

Finish with the warm-up and start the main event, additive merkins for each light pole we pass starting with one.  We stop at the first intersection and perform 10 left, right lunges and 10 starjumps OYO.  Finishing those we head up to the next intersection, performing 8 merkins at this point.  Here Q instructs the PAX to perform LBCs in cadence and flutter kicks, low and slow.

Recover and head down the street to the next intersection, we are now up to 13 merkins and PAX starting to mumble about shoulders.  At this intersection we perform SSH and monkey humpers, both in cadence.  Recover and head to the bridge for a bear crawl across and then run with more merkins up the hill.  We top the hill at 20 merkins, circle up for some Freddie mercs and American hammers.

A slight detour takes us to the rock pile at this point, gathering a good, non-traveling rock (all that DP has really) and circle up for 3 rounds of curls, presses, and rock rows.  To make it fair, Q instructs PAX to rotate to the left after each set.

Take our rocks back and perform the last of our merkins, this time counting down from 20.  Q calls an audible, performing lunge walks up the bridge instead of bear crawls.  Finish the lunge walks and head to the shelter.  At the shelter perform two rounds of dips and alt left-right step ups.  Finish in the shelter and head to the parking lot and circle up on our 6s for:

Mary

Q decides to share the duties with the PAX, calling for a speed mary with each PAX deciding some sort of mary exercise around the circle.  Finish just in time.  Q duly notes that speed mary needs to go much faster, with the next guy calling out the exercise before the first guy finishes.

COT

Count-a-rama:  12 PAX.

Announcements:

Toy Drive – the CarPEX Site Qs met and decided to conduct a toy drive under the umbrella of Operation Sweet Tooth. It is in honor of the Charlotte brother who’s daughter suddenly passed this year so he started a toy drive under her f3 name, Sweet Tooth  http://f3nation.com/2016/11/ 01/operation-sweet-tooth-is- in-full-gear-in-meca-and-we- need-your-help/

Toys we collect will be donated to the Marine Corps Toys-For-Tots program. Toys need to be new, still in the package, and unwrapped. Collection begins immediately at any CarPEX AO. Make it a goal to bring a toy to every AO!. The end date right now is Friday, December 16th. Note I am still confirming the last day they will accept toys so it may be the week before.
CarPEX Christmas Party – December 15th at the Mellow Mushroom in Cary.  M’s invited, details in emails.

Christmas Party Fundraiser – there will be a fundraiser associated with the Christmas party to benefit Levi Moore, the cousin of one of Khaki’s small group members whose wife and child tragically passed away just before or during child birth. Details will be provided soon after the party itself is announced.

News Year’s Eve Churham / CarPEX Convergence – On Saturday, 12/31 from 0700 to 0800, we are planning a convergence of chapel hill, Durham, Cary, and Apex at the normal site of Thin Blue Line (Old Chapel Hill Road Park off 15-501). We’re planning to have 4 Qs – one from each location. I volunteered to be one, so we need one more from CarPEX, preferably someone from Apex but it doesn’t really matter. Stank Tank details to follow. Would love for this to be a strong showing of 30-40 from CarPEX.

It was an honor to lead you men this morning.
