Forty-two PAX descended on Fetzer Field early Monday morning to cleanse themselves of a holiday season of too many cocktails and cold brews, too much Claxton fruitcake, too much travel, too much noise and otherwise fart-sacking at the drop of a hat.
Avalanche and Shooter had just the ideas to slap everyone back to a New Year’s reality.
After a warmup of SSH, IW, prisoner squats, arm circles, merkins and mountain climbers, the PAX split into two groups.
Avalanche led half the group on a campus tour:
Run to Bell Tower and road down to Kenan Stadium for Travelling Burpees back up the hill.
Partner up for two sets of 15 pull-ups and dips.
Enter the Rams Head deck for partner wheelbarrows up the ramp with a merkin every five steps and swap with partner after five merkins.
On the next ramp flip over for partner crab crawls with a dip every five steps and swap with partner every five dips.
Partner carrys for next four ramps.
Back to the wheelbarrows/merkins and crab crawls/dips for the next two ramps.
Backwards run to the top back down the stairs and back to Fetzer.
Meanwhile, Shooter took half the group to the IM fields for a Tabata workout—three circuits with 10 exercises each circuit, 40 seconds of work, 20 seconds of rest.
Circuit 1: SSH, merkins, seal jacks, diamond merkins, squat jacks, wide-grip merkins, high-knees, 4-stop merkins, jump lunges, merkins.
Circuit 2: Walking lunge, prisoner squat, walking lunge, Willie Mays Hays, walking lunge, forward lunge w/twist, walking lunge, burpees, walking lunge, double-merkin burpees.
Circuit 3: SSH, LBC, seal jacks, low-plank hold, squat jacks, Parker Peters, high-knees, Freddie Mercurys, jump lunges, Heels-to-Heaven.
