7 Pax gathered in Larry David’s conference room to encourage their brothers and share some pretty deep thoughts on how we all can be more thoughtful husbands. The bible gives us many great instructions on the matter but we chose to reflect on the following:

– Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives just as Christ also loved the Church and gave himself up for her.”      (In the words of Robert Plant, that’s “a whole lot a love”.)

-1 Peter 3:7 “Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to them as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers might not be hindered”

-Colossians 3:19 “Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”

God instructs us that we are to become one flesh with our spouse. However as men we want to fix things and be the hero. We are inherently self-motivated and independent, character traits that keep us from becoming ONE our Ms. We don’t listen to the subtle hints or small details that are important to the M. She can take this as we don’t care about what she finds important or we don’t take her seriously.

Each PAX had great examples not only of how our actions prove these points true, but also behaviors we can change or add to insure we are more respectful and thoughtful. We all know our Ms deserve better. They deserve our undivided attention and unconditional love. We should bite our tongue when we just have to get in the last word. Love and marriage is not about winning and one-upmanship. It’s about having a teammate for life. Winning together!

I am thankful for each of you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
