There was a lot of pressure to follow the “Legs Feed the Wolf” Q at the Forge this time around since the PAX “enjoyed” that one so much. I couldn’t think of another theme quite like that but I had to come through with something.
I don’t think I actually announced what this workout was called, but here we are, with the Deck of Death.
Warmup:
SSH x 15, Imperial Walkers x 15, Mountain Climbers x 15, Good Mornings x 10
The Thang:
All PAX mosey over to the Coliseum Deck on NC State’s campus. If there’s any theme here, I really do like going over to campus to workout. On the way over, the PAX were to find a partner and the preference was for it to be someone that they didn’t know very well or hadn’t partnered up with before. The PAX were to get to know each other while we were on our way. Once we arrived at the Deck, we started down at level 1 of the deck. Partner 1 ran up to level 2 while Partner 2 performed leg exercises of their choice (monkey humpers, squats, etc.). Upon arrival at level 2, Partner 1 completed 10 WW2 crunches. After completing the exercises, Partner 1 runs back down to level 1, collects partner 2 and proceeds to the next level. Partner 2 then runs to level 3 while partner 1 stays on level 2. The same exercises are completed until the PAX pairing makes it to the top of the deck (level 5).
*A little side note – that all might sound great. But when we started, it didn’t go so smoothly. I had failed to direct the PAX to stay consistent with the side of the deck they were to run to. Some were staying on the near side, some on the far side. So we reset and started over. Shout out to Peach Pit because he said, “Leadership is about resetting when you need to and keeping on going.” Even though the first bit of the workout was a bit confusing, Peach Pit gave me a boost that we were still on track. And we kept on going. Appreciate you Peach Pit. *
After we made it all the way to the top, the PAX performed a B.L.I.M.P.S. ladder around the 4 corners of the deck. 5 Burpess, 10 LBCs, 15 Imperial Walkers, 20 Merkans, 25 Prayer Squats, and 30 SSH. At the first corner, the PAX performed 5 burpees. At the next corner, PAX completed 5 burpees and 10 LBCs. And so on and so forth.
Once we made it through the BLIMPS, we moseyed our way down the deck and the PAX were directed to find a new partner that they hadn’t met or spoken with before. Fellowship pace back to home base at Pullen.
