YHC got the call early Friday to sub for Countrywide at Ambassador. Happy to help a brother out, especially one about the experience the backside of the big 4-0, I agreed to take the reins. Chavis is such an awesome A.O., I decided in my infinite wisdom that it would be best not to make use of any of it. Instead, we took an off campus adventure down to Dix to meet up with our brethren from Pullen.  Here’s how it went down:

Warm-up at Chavis:  little man SSH’s, IW’s

Take off on the run heading towards Dix

Stops along the way for merkin variations (standard, wide grip, diamond and stagger), squat holds and planks

Arrive at Dix and meet up with Pullen pax for the following:

  • set of 11’s on the steep hill:  hand-release merkins at the top, sumo squats at the bottom
  • quick set of Mary:  LBC’s, Freddie Mercs, protractors

Take off back to Chavis with more merkin stops along the way

Arrive home with 2 minutes to spare, pick up Dr. Quinn who emerged from the gloom, and finish with a quick set of Mary:  scissors, WWII’s

COT, including a painfully long naming process for our 2 FNG’s

Eleven (11) took us out

NMM:

  • Thanks to the pax for enduring this little experiment.  Not the smoothest plan given the humidity and distance. Throw in the freshly-mown hay that was the Dix fields, and it was truly a hot mess in some respects.  But in the end, we still managed to cover 3+ miles, a strong set of 11’s and a fair number of merkins.
  • Tclaps to our FNG’s who hung tough the whole way, including enduring the tedious naming process.  Look forward to having you guys back out.
  • Dr. Quinn made a cameo for closing Mary and COT.  Hate we missed you out of the gate.  By appearances, I don’t think the good doctor was just standing around waiting for our return.  Obviously put in a solid #SadClownSolo while we were gone.
  • Enjoyed meeting up with the guys from Pullen and sharing in the pain with them for awhile.  Thanks to Ollie and Tecumseh for stepping up to take over site Q duties there. May want to try the mini-convergence again sometime, but with a little more pre-planning on my part.

Closing Thought:

Hebrews 10:24-25 – “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

As always, an honor and a pleasure.

Aye.
