A new year, yet a familiar AO. YHC has been making the Judge part of his normal Thursday routine and has missed posting here. Our good friend, Johnny Utah was the founding Q of this AO and it was definitely good to be back again, the last time was honestly just a few weeks ago when Captain Kangaroo treated the PAX and YHC to some lengthy rock work. YHC chose poorly that day. Determined not to revisit the rock pile and that angry rock, YHC had some other thoughts in mind from my many posts here over the last couple years. I pulled in early to get a lay of the land…only Mayhem was in the parking lot at that time. YHC did a quick jog down the path to see what construction obstacles were in the way – with most of the AO available for the daily downpainment, YHC formulated a general plan and ran back to await the PAX.
11 slipped out of the straightjacket known well as the fartsack on this less than 30 degree morn, some Judge regulars in attendance as well. A quick glance at the watch, the Shovel Flag firmly planted…it was time. Here’s how we brought some warmer waters to this set…
Warm-up:
- SSH x 20
- Imperial Walkers x 20
- Fazio Arm Circles x20 (10 forward, 10 reverse)
- Quick jog to the basketball court
The 200 (YHC had all PAX line up on the nearside baseline. The objective was to complete a set of Merkins and a Mary exercise OYO and then run to the end of the 2nd court – far side baseline. Squat hold until all PAX completed the run. At the far side baseline another Merkin – Mary set and then run back. Here’s what we did)
- 25 Standard Merkins + 25 LBC’s + sprint to far side baseline, squat hold
- 25 Wide grip Merkins + 25 Reverse LBC’s + sprint to near side baseline, squat hold
- 25 Carolina Dry Docks + 25 Flutter Kicks (Left-Right = 1) + Karaoke to far side baseline, squat hold
- 25 Military Merkins (hands tight by sides) + 25 Dying Cockroaches + Karaoke to near side baseline, squat hold
- 10 Burpees
Fellowship jog down to the soccer field. Count off by 2’s. 1’s sprint down and back while 2’s do a called exercise – all AMRAP. Flapjack.
- Prisoner Squats
- LBC’s
- Flutter Kicks
- Spiderman Merkins
Partner up – Wheelbarrow across the field, flapjack as needed. Squat hold until all PAX finished.
Fellowship jog down the path through the woods and out to Glen Eden. Partner up (size matters). Partner carry up the hill towards Edwards Mill – flapjack as often as needed. Plank hold at the top.
Leapfrog – 1’s sprint about a 1/3’rd of the way down Edwards Mill back towards the main park entrance. Stop at called utility pole and do 25 merkins. 2’s would remain behind and do 5 burpee’s and then sprint to the 1’s. 2’s would then sprint to the next utility pole while 1’s would do 5 burpees and then sprint to the 2’s who would be doing 25 merkins at the next stop. 1’s would sprint to the main entrance sign and do 25 merkins, 2’s would do 5 burpees and then sprint to meet 1’s and complete their 25 merkins. 1’s did 5 burpees while 2’s finished their merkin set.
Fellowship jog back into the parking lot and down to the basketball court.
3 point shootout: All PAX took up a position around the 3 point arc. 10 jump shots OYO and then rotate to the next man’s spot on your left. Keep rotating until you returned to your original spot. #Legburner
Circle up for Mary
- LBC’s x 20
- American Hammers x 15
- Boat Canoe
- Superman Banana
- Burpee Buster (Standard x6, Jump Knee Tuck x6, Hand Release x6, Ski Ab x6, Prison Cell Merkin x6)

Moleskin
- Another sub-30 degree AM and another Q this week with 11 PAX. The objective was to keep the heart rate up and the PAX moving. We had some ground to cover.
- Great to see some Judge “hate category” regulars join me this AM (Yo Yo, Villa). It’s always a pleasure posting with you guys.
- The partner carry up the hill..well that hill was longer than I thought. I had thoughts of going back down and doing it again…that evaporated about half way up.
- The 3 point contest was on the fly. Wasn’t sure how it would go but after a few rotations, I think all the PAX were wondering when it would end. Way to persevere men. That one is a keeper.
- With 4 min left, YHC had no choice but to call for the #crowdpleaser Burpee Buster. To be honest, the real Burpee Buster is 6 min (2 rotations through non-stop – 60 burpees). We’ll do it next time.
- With all the various Mary today, last night’s 2 helpings of homemade Chili came back to haunt YHC and at least 1 PAX.
