With torrents of water flowing through the bottom floor of the parking deck, and our feet sloshing through standing water more then they were on dry ground, we were reminded why this AO is called the Flood Zone.
EC lead by Western Stranger. We started with an attempt at staying dry by running the ramps in the parking deck. At the top of each ramp we did a set of 20 including hand release Merkins, prisoner squats, star jumps, burpees, sumo squats, freddy murcuries. Lunge walk down the last down hill ramp. Various and sundry planks were done throughout to keep the group together.
The Real Show. First half lead by String Bean. No FNG’s today, so we got right to it. No attempt at staying dry here. Despite many groans we headed out into the pouring rain and wind with a jog, or more of a sprint, lead by the bean himself over to the McDonald’s parking lot for warm up consisting of 15 side straddle hop, 15 good morning’s, 15 muddy mountain climbers followed by 15 prisoner squats to make sure the back of your head got good and muddy from your gloves.
We then ran over to the Glenwood Ave bridge and were greeted by two friendly vagrants spending the evening under the bridge. After some mumbled words, they graciously parted ways. We picked up some stones and did 15 each of curls, bent over rows and triceps extensions. Passed the rocks to the left. YHC suddenly found himself with a much larger stone. Repeated the same sets. Lots of groaning here, but the PAX stayed strong and kept up with the uptempo pace led by String Bean.
We then ran over to the Solas hill. We did some stacks here with 5 burpees, sprinted to the top, 5 more burpees, ran to the bottom 5 burpees and 10 merkins. to the top for 5 more burpees and 10 merkins. Then to the bottom of the hill, where YHC took over and lead us to the finish line.
We partner’d up and did a partner chase up to the top with 5 merkins to give the runner some lead time. Planked it out at the top. Ran back to the parking deck. Did 10 burpees OYO to loosen up a bit more. It felt too dry under the parking deck, so we ran up the steps to the top of the deck and over to the cross bar. Did 10 partner assisted pull-ups and 15 partner Durkins, flip flopped for three sets of this. Then went back inside for Mary
Mary: 20 Crucifix (i was told this was actually called windshield wiper, but I like crucifix better). 30 LBC. Box cutter x 30. And Homer to Marge by request. Then we planked it out to finish up with some regulArs, Full side planks and a low plank hold at the end to burn it out.
It was an honor to lead a dedicated group of PAX that looked more like drowned rats at the end of it all. Strong work.
YHC, Western Stranger.
