13 dedicated men showed up in the swampy air near Bond Park not knowing what to expect. That’s probably just as well, otherwise they may have stayed away or taken the easy way out and gone for a run or something. It was almost only 12, but then Grease Monkey rolled up in whisper mode with no headlights. No doubt trying to save gas or lengthen his bulb life expectancy or something. No explanation was offered. Here’s what happened:
At precisely, 5:45 we dropped for 40 merkins. I would have taken them to 50 but Burt’s grunts told me it was time to move on for the mere mortals. Besides 50 is the new 40. Or something like that.
Jog on up to the community center and down the hill past the kiosk over to the base of the dam where we circled up for the first circle of pain. YHC admits the idea for this workout came from a workout in Charlotte by Prohibition (just in case he’s reading).

Recovery jog along the path by the dam, up the stairs at the end, and then back along the top of the dam. It was like New Hampshire…except not. Even though Rip Tide was missing, conversation of his magnificent locks dominated mumble chatter on the way back. Anyway, we’re back. Circle up for some tabatas (or as Burt aka “Double Deuce” calls them…chabatas).
That is 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off for 8 sets of the same exercise. As Callahan correctly pointed out, that is 4 minutes per set. There’s that Purdue education finally paying off.

YHC used a watch for timing. Burt/Double Deuce/Chabata pointed out there was an app for that. That’s good…if you carry a smart phone with you during the workout.
Jog back to the kiosk and pause at the bottom of the hill back that leads us out of the dale and back up to the main road. Give me all you got up to the top. Jog down the road to the corner, then sprint it on back to the starting parking lot. Circle up for a minute of Mary:
