As predicted, watching the first presidential debate the night before really got me in a sour mood.  Combine this with the Twitter smack talk from my “good friend” Orwell, and YHC was more than ready to take out his frustrations on the 30 pax who showed up for this morning’s edition of The Forge.  This was actually my VQ at The Forge, and I assured Singlewide that I would bring some True Grit to this AO.  Hopefully I followed through on my promise…

Over to the cul-de-sac where a shady looking black Jeep with an F3 trailer hitch awaited ominously.  Cell phone and portable speaker extracted from car, time for the Bodies Hit The Floor challenge.  The challenge was to get through the entire song “Bodies” by Drowning Pool (3:21 length) as follows:

Starting in plank, anytime the song says “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor”, do 1 Hand Release Merkin.  Anytime the song counts (1, 2, 3, or 4), do a Merkin.  Plank when not doing either HR Merkin or Merkin.  Total of 26 HR Merkins and 21 standard Merkins.  Not sure how many completed, was too busy trying to get through it myself while ignoring Country Wide’s quips about song selection.

Fellowship jog up the path, across Pullen to NCSU’s campus and make our way over to the field in front of the Court of North Carolina, site of the infamous Country Wide Double 11s a few months ago.  Partner up (size matters) at cross path closest to stairs.  Partners sprint to base of stairs, hopping the brick wall on the way.  Partner carry up stairs.  At top, partner 1 goes to chillcut while Partner 2 side jumps over partner and does 1 burpee, side jump back and another burpee, up to 10 total.  Partners return to base of steps, flapjack and repeat.

Back to path.  Face other direction – sprint to end of field and back.

Partner carry up stairs, this time at top do Partner Derkins x 20 with one partner in high plank.  Bottom of stairs, flapjack and repeat.

Back to path.  Face other direction – sprint to end of field and back.

Partner carry up stairs, this time Partner 1 does low plank while Partner 2 side jumps x 10.  Back to base of stairs, flapjack and repeat.

Back to path.  Plank hold until all finish, then Diamond Merkins x 15.

Fellowship jog back to the cul-de-sac.  Double Merkin Burpees x 5 for those who completed the previous challenge, 10 for those who didn’t.  Think everyone did 10 anyway.  Nice teamwork.

Back to parking lot for Mary.

Announcements – Singe Wide dropped the hammer and warned those that have Q’ed a Forge and not written a back blast – he knows who you are.  Which is why this back blast is right on time – no fact checking required here.

Prayer Requests – those pax struggling with family issues.

Steroid took us out with a strong word of prayer.

Enjoyed venturing away from my Tuesday home base of True Grit and seeing some new faces here at The Forge.  This was a good reminder that we all need to step outside of our comfort zone, which is easily done within F3 – just step up to Q for the first time, Q a site that you rarely get to, or just post at a site you haven’t been to yet.

Thanks Singlewide and Franzia for the opportunity to lead this morning.  As a True Grit devotee, It’s hard for me to admit, but it appears you guys have a good thing going at this thing called The Forge!
