YHC rolled into THP to what could be described as spring like weather.  With a few last minute cancellations YHC expected to be the only Raleigh regular pax at the AO, but with a few minutes to spare Yukon Cornelius showed up just as the shovel flag was being planted.  Knowing this would be it for the day from this side of the door, it was time to utilize our lobbying skillz to see who would take the bait.  First thing YHC was greeter by Dolf for what would be his 2nd post, assuring YHC he would then be ready for a shirt. Lots of THP men were taking advantage of the cool temps between classes and so the conversations of “why not today” were plentiful in the courtyard.  YHC then caught sight of another familiar face, Butane, who after checking if he needed to finish mowing grass, joined us in preparation of the afternoons work.  so 2 became 8 and the time was at hand.  YHC made the call and so it began.

The Thang:

Jog to the Lake Wheeler field, and let Butane know he missed a spot, circle up for disclaimer and warm-ups, SSH x 15, GA x 15, IW x 15, Mericans x10.

Find a spot on the line for an interval run to the top, mericans at all 3 stops, x10, x15, & x10 and plank at the top

Head to the ball field on Dix for a little infield outfield visitation, LF 10 burpies at pole, 15 Mericans back at home, repeto to CF & RF.

Find a spot for a tabata set with 4 rounds of Ski Abs, Squats, Mericans, & Jump Lunges with a 20 second rest in between.

Jog back to the top of the hill and go back the way we came with 3 stops again for Mericans.  Find a shady spot for COT, DONE!

COT:  YHC discussed how a coal taken out of the fire burns out quickly but a coal left in the fire burns strong with rest of the coals.  That as God’s word says Iron sharpens iron, and that YHC was thankful not just for the Raleigh pax but also the THP pax, and ended with an encouragement to remain strong in this call, this brotherhood, and their road to recovery.  A few sobriety dates were celebrated, prayer requests were made for strength of the pax, especially Herring having only been in THP for a week. YC took us out with a mighty word to God!

Welcome Herring and Shredder, Herring completed the 1/2 in the Rock & Roll Marathon a few months back and seemed excited to have this opportunity.  Shredder needed to find a belt and possibly a little more desire to stay involved in the entire workout next time.  Skyline, Butane, Dolf, & Kryptonite stayed out front all day, showing the fng’s how it was done.   YHC was grateful to have YC to join him for the afternoon session.  In one of last weeks COT, Orwell reminded the pax how well Cujo was doing in DC, running on his own and keeping up the work he started while at RRM last year.  The only way to be in these men’s lives is to be present, where change can be encouraged to happen.  YHC understands it’s inconvenient to make a Friday afternoon 2:30 workout, but this is the time that works for these men, and they deserve our presence.  YHC reminds himself, we are only a few decisions away from similar situations.  Consider making the Arena a priority for you.
