Site Q took advantage of the Balsa Gliders gigs this week and a tag team Q between Sweeper Boy (CLT) and My Boy Blue was arranged. Sweeper Boy brought his Bom-Box and started the setlist. I don’t remember what was first, but I remember when Eminence Front started. And so 26 set of for an hour of fun.
The Thang
Jog down the hill for warmups. SSH, Good Mornings and such. Jog up the hill and around the carousel. Three rounds of threes. Run to building and do 10 burpees. Run to rail and do 10 Australian Merkins, Run to sidewalk and do 15 LBC. 3x. Mosey to upper parking lot and circle up. Freddie Mercuries, Peter Parkers, and Plank. Bom Box Broke into The Killers “All These Things That I’ve Done”, with the chorus ringing “I’ve got soul but I’m not a soldier”. Merican on “soldier”. I think I saw White Shoe singing to this. Seemed like many felt the mojo on this one. Killer song, no pun intended. Mosey up to field and do four corners with 10 Mericans. Another round with 10 squats.
Sweeper Boy turns over to MBB. Cones set at 10, 20 and 30 yard line. Three beautiful words. “On. The. Line.” Bear crawl to 10 and back, sprint to 20 and back, Bear crawl to 30, sprint back. We did a series of this type thing with 10/20/30 suicide sprints mixed in with Mericans, LBC, etc. I don’t remember exactly because it was fairly impromptu, but we did about 6 of these. We also pretended to be defensive backs and ran back 4 interceptions from the 1 yard line to the other touchdown. The PAX loved this part. Mosey down to the tennis courts. Half do suicides while the other half do peoples chair, balls to the wall and plank. Circle up for Mary (Freddie, LBC, Long Slow Flutter).
We had three 2.0’s, several Haven House friends, and Wendell Gee supervising with a bad back. It was a humid soak fest, and between the music, sucking wind, and sweating like a wet rag, it was a good day to feel alive.
