Could not ask for better weather for some Friday afternoon fun in The Arena in late October.  While some PAX may have been enjoying the warmth by stuffing their faces with fried bacon balls at the fair, 14 Arena faithful decided to get some sweat out before the weekend.

As has been typical at The Arena lately, it initially looked like the client Pax count would be light today with just Herring and Pigtails gathering at 2:30, but around 2:35 the floodgates opened and Spartacus, Butane, Thornbush, Front Porch, Big Poppy and Shepherd ran out to join us after quickly changing into gear.

WARMUPS – Seal Jacks x 20, Good Afternoons x 15, I/W x 15, Viking Squats x 15

THANG

Mosey over to courtyard for L/R Step Ups x 20, Irkins x 15, L/R Step Ups x 20, Derkins x 15

Down to the field off Lake Wheeler Road.  Interval run up the hill with 5x, 10x, 15x merkins at each pole.

Over to the baseball field, break into 2 groups.  Group 1 rounds the bases while Group 2 does called exercise until all of Group 1 gets to home, flapjack.

  • Set 1:  Bear crawl to 1st, defensive slides to 2nd, crabwalk to 3rd, defensive slides home.  Other group People Chair while waiting.
  • Set 2:  Broad jumps to 1st, hi knees to 2nd, broad jumps to 3rd, hi knees home.  Other group 10x Balls to the Wall followed by plank hold.
  • Set 3:  Sprint to back of right field, run around to back of left field, sprint home.  Other group 10x Balls to the Wall followed by squat hold.

Back to pole field.  Run down with 5x merkins at each pole.  CW asks YHC a couple of times if we’re supposed to do increasing merkin count.  Duly noted.

After the group gathers, YHC shares a quick lesson in F3 procedure.  If a Pax ever questions or subtly implies that the Q is not pushing hard enough, punishment must ensue.  With CW’s “subtle” implication that more merkins were needed, YHC had no choice but to impose a 10x Burpee punishment on the Pax.  #toughlove

Back to shaded area (love that we are still seeking shaded area to conclude in late October) for some quick Mary of LBC x 25, American Hammers x 20.

COT

YHC described for the Pax the recent GoRuck experience, and the importance of teamwork and leaning on your peers both in the GoRuck, in the program at Healing Transitions, and in our daily lives.  Tclaps to Thornbush who asked if they could participate in such events.

Wrapped up with Nameorama, prayer requests for the clients at Healing Transitions and their families, and Thornbush took us out with a powerful word of prayer.

NAKED MOLESKIN

Pigtails does not like running, and is eager to Q a workout that takes place solely in the weight room.

Big Poppy had an interesting suggestion for weights to use in the next GoRuck.

Butane and Spartacus continue to amaze us with their post-workout energy drink, I mean cigarette.

Herring and Shepherd are fast.

Front Porch and Thornbush battled hard in the last base running set.

IMPORTANT  Butane and Spartacus stepped up for their VQ next Friday, 10/30.  Would be great to see as many Pax there as possible to support them, so try to set aside some time Friday afternoon to be there.  Confidence is obviously building among the client pax – from Pigtail’s mumblechatter about getting us into the weight room to Butane’s denial of needing any help Q’ing a workout, it is great to see these pax embracing the principles of F3 and The Arena.

There are many positive things to take away after a workout at The Arena, but lately YHC has most enjoyed the fellowship with clients afterwards.  This is the best chance to get to know these men personally – their background and what led them to Healing Transitions.

If you have not been to an Arena workout yet, now is a great time to give it a try.

AYE!
