The promise of something special brought 25 PAX out to A-Team this beautiful Monday morning. Sadly, with Screech’s beatdown arsenal impounded, they had to settle for an impromptu celebration of YHC’s Bartmanniversary. We’ll see if we can hit another new high next week. For now, the PAX got to enjoy a recap of things I thought sucked this past year.

With disclaimer delivered, we were off, from the main parking lot up to the front of the park. We avoided getting run over by one of our site Qs, clearly happy he’d passed off the Q to YHC. A few bobs and weaves while YHC made up his mind on what to do, and we arrived to circle up for:

  • SSH x20 IC
  • GM x12 IC
  • Merkins x20
  • Windmill x15

On to the Thang:

  • Partner up. Size will eventually matter.
  • P1 runs to next parking lot island and does 10 Merkins, P2 stays and does 10 Merkins, then runs. 7 stations around the lot for 70 total.
  • Repeato with star jumps, squat hold when done.
  • Recover on the mosey to the bottom of powerline hill. Size will eventually matter.
  • P1 lunge walk up hill to power line pole, P2 stay and alternate 20 LBC / 20 squat / repeat.  P1 run down, flapjack.
  • Size matters now. Partner carry up hill, run down, flapjack.
  • Happy Leap Day! Broad jump burpees up the hill. This was quite popular with the PAX. #oncein4yearsisenough
  • Run to large basketball court, line up on the fence.
  • Balls to the Wall, last man standing. Burt edged out Coney to retain the title. #respectVSrespect

Circle up for Mary:

  • Freddie Mercury x30
  • American Hammer x40
  • Boat/Canoe for as long as YHC could stand it, which wasn’t long.

Welcome FNG LeapTerp. Some good ideas floated, but the PAX threw their weight behind this one. He’s from College Park, MD, attended Emmanuel in GA, moved here from TN, and was wearing a Georgia sweatshirt. #alloverthemap. Glad Pergo and Containment headlocked you in.

Announcements: Something about a mule.

Prayer Requests: Franklin’s dad; Pergo’s mom; family from MaBell’s (& YHC’s) church working through loss.

YHC closed us out, always grateful for the opportunity.

NMS:

  • I feel a little strange even attempting to write one of these. I feel like the bar is so high these days.
  • Still, better than not attempting it at all?
  • I told my 8y/o daughter I was leading a workout yesterday. Her eyes brightened and she said “I know! You can have them do 20 jumping jacks!” So I did.
  • We had more time left after that, so we did some other things too.
  • Seriously, I did counts of 30 and 40 for Mary? Not 29? #soobviousnow
  • I issued a challenge to have the PAX do their partner carries fireman style, then promptly disregarded my own challenge. YHC’s partner Pergo was the only one I saw step up, and he crushed it. #beastmode
  • My FNG post was at A-Team a year ago this week. Ma Bell led the beatdown, and Denali carried 205lb of Bartman up powerline hill. This year Pergo got to carry 205lb of Bartman up powerline hill.
  • I’m gonna go with “redistributed”.  #feelthebern
  • I hadn’t really planned to start at the front parking lot, but I wanted to give Screech a thorough tour of the AO, so he can fully prepare next week’s beatdown. #beprepared
  • Still, 1.7 has got to be below average for a Bartman workout. I apologize for nothing.
  • Except maybe the broad-jump burpees. That was a little out of order. Good livin’ though.
  • Ran out of time to do Michelob’s picnic table pyramid. Maybe Friday.
  • Afterwards, LeapTerp opined “Man, you guys are no joke.” Likewise, brother. Likewise.
