The absent-minded sportsman will forego the achievement for fear of the price: Pain. The oft-avoided foe. Enemy of the mind. Assaulter of the feeble frame.
Lurking in the darkness, crouched in the depths of the forbidding arena, Pain broods. Teeth bared. Whispering dispiriting declarations upon icy gusts: “Return to board. To blankets and broads. Away, weak-minded soul…” Pain knows not love.
But look, what’s this? Straps tightened, belts cinched, eleven brothers rise up. Iron-clad combatants. Full aware, the price is steep. Shivering ‘neath Pain’s first knifing wave of attack. Yet galloping wildly into frozen fields. Attack the track. Pain shall not win the day. Agony shall not prevail. Acceleration, the chosen weapon. The proven path to the prize. And the prize… the prize is SPEED. The spoils of Hi-Fidelity.
