YHC led a PAX of 13 on a rainy Saturday morning: 80% chance of rain, 100% chance of pain I tweeted out the night before.
My original planned workout was washed away by the rain. It will have to wait for another day. So, an evening of game night with friends was a prelude to our workout on a wet misty Saturday morning: The Triple Decker
PAX gathered in the parking lot of Carroll Middle School with Plebe bring two 2.0’s for the workout. Peacock was running late- as usual someone commented and we were off.
The THANG: Jog over to North Hills Tower Parking Lot: sprint to up the ramp to the 1st level for warm-up:
25 SSH, 20 Imperial Walkers, 15 Good Mornings, 15 WIndmills
Run up the stairs to the top of the parking deck for a little Misty Mountain Top plankorama
15 sec Regular, 15 sec Right arm behind the back, 15sec with left leg out, back to regular repeat for left side, rinse and repeat, then back to 30 sec regular, 25 Mt Climbers, too
Run down the ramp out to the fountain in front of W.O.B. (Deck 1 complete)
On the fountain circle 15 Erkins, 10 Derkins, 10 dips and off to Deck # 2 run to the top hanging out like Fool’s in the Rain (yes, my second Led Zepplin song reference) (Deck #2 complete!)
YHC informed the PAX of our final deck the Deck of Death: a routine done with a deck of playing cards where each suit is an exercise and each card dictates the number of reps you do of that exercise all the way up to an Ace = 14 reps. The four exercises were Merkins, Starjumps, Sumo Squats and LBC- yes, I made sure the PAX was real going to get wet. We completed the deck which included 2 jokers: (1) used as 15x of Burpess and another for a 15 count. In case you are counting, 120 reps of each exercise for a total of 480 + 15 burpees for 495 reps!
After completion of Deck # 3 (Triple Decker accomplished!), we played 52 card pick-up and ran back to CMS with just enough time for a Victory Lap around the school and a few minutes of MARY
6 inch leg holds around the circle with counts to 10 & 15 Makthar Ndiayes to close us out.
COT: Park request for PAX members friend struggling with breast cancer, Prayers for Fava Bean and Blue Crush families with birth of their 2.0’s this week.
YHC talked about #sadclownsydrome and Freed to Lead– encouraged PAX to be supportive of other members, friends and family to help through tough times as we have all been there. I talked about not taking life for granted and count our blessings each and everyday. I was inspired simply by seeing an artificial Christmas on the side of the road running back from the deck, which reminded me we are only 89 days away from Christmas and the many struggles people face during the holidays: depression, loneliness, sadness, etc… I asked each one of us to remember others less fortunate, those who have lost love ones recently and be a light for them if possible. The rain had set it off. No Sad Clown Syndrome!
An honor and a privilege to lead, it is truly a rewarding experience. AYE!
