EC: YHC arrived early to plant shovel flag and to loosen up with a little run after yesterdays Hill and Dale. On arrival, McCants and Ollie had the same in mind, so they were off to the Cary Arts Center and back. For the rest of you, get out of your trucks and join us.

Pax gathered and no FNGs. We were about to head out when Nabisco screams in. We delayed our start just long enough for Nabisco to take in our departure and we were off    8 + 1 on the way.

Warm up:

Head to the municipal building with stop on the way: SSH, Good am, Mtn climber. As we were sandwiched between two trees, the gloom was visibly showing as the clouds rolled in and we were entertained with a light show.

At commons area, settle in for some Australian pull-ups and dips. Start with 11 ct Australian pull-ups, jog to fountain for 11 ct dips, and repeat for total of 11 intervals.

Mosey to parking deck, lower entrance.

The Thang:

Start at lower deck entrance.

  • At first flat area, backwards run first half, sprint to end. Then run stairs to top of deck – 10 merkins, then to bottom of deck – 10 merkins, return. Squat hold to regroup.
  • At first ramp, broken wheel barrow alternating between the pax. At top, run stairs to top of deck – 10 merkins, then to bottom of deck – 10 merkins, return to top of ramp 1 for backwards run first half of flat, sprint to end. Run stairs to top of deck – 10 merkins, then to bottom of deck – 10 merkins, return with peoples chair to regroup.
  • At second ramp, alternating side shuffle right and left to top. Then run stairs to top of deck – 10 merkins, then to bottom of deck – 10 merkins, return to top of ramp 2 for backwards run first half, sprint to end. Run stairs to top of deck – 10 merkins, then to bottom of deck – 10 merkins, return to squat hold and regroup.
  • At third ramp, alternating 1 legged broad jump [not a bunny hop as some preferred] to       top, 10 merkins, and peoples chair to regroup.

Recover on jog to municipal area for some Mary; LBCs on right side, LBCs left side with legs straight. I heard the the CLT boyz call this “pillow talk”. No can do – nothing says gloom like “Pillow Talk”. New name to follow. Mosey to Academy and Chatham for more Mary: Hammers and some other stuff. Return to courtyard.

COT:

  • Announcements: Q school this Saturday – meet at the kiosk at 9am, F2 at the Pharmacy tonight 6-6:30, Ollie has Q at DZ
  • Prayer Concerns: Callahan with interview in the am. Not mentioned but prayers for Bartman and family as they take the next week to see family in Ohio and Illinois; Banjo’s wife and kids are heading to Kentucky for next 3 weeks to see family and his daughter is heading on mission trip in Memphis, TN.
  • YHC challenged PAX to think about a leader or someone that inspired and challenged them to be better. Several men shared. Cousteau played football under Lou Holtz in the 70’s. Just 5 years ago during book signing, Coach Holtz remembered Cousteau. Impressive.
  • YHC took us out in Prayer

The Stuff that happened:

  • The pax were treated to a nice lightening show. There were concerns from several of the pax as YHC clearly placed us in the line of fire – sandwiched between two trees for some Mary. “Livin’ on the edge”
  • Enclosed stairwells offer relief in winter. But in the summer, they are oppressive. Knowledge is power [over the pax].
  • Nabisco said it best, broken wheel barrows should be renamed broken spirit.
  • At 5:30 and you see some Pax running, stop and get out of your truck and join them. No Questions
  • Cousteau, “Why do they call them Australian Pull-ups?”   Bartman, “Because you start down under.”

Thank you men for opportunity to serve. “Lord grant me a humble spirit and a willing heart.”
