On a balmy 42’F morning at Cletus we celebrated the FIFTH five-pack in a row from our now not-so-new brother, Stark.   He is an animal.

A respectable number of men braved the gloom to post at Cletus this morning because they know, as I do, that… friendship is magic.

The warmup:

Take off from upper parking lot, jog to the baseball field parking lot. Circle up for:

  • SSH x 25
  • Hillbillies x 25
  • Good mornings x 15
  • Sir Fazio arm circles x 15 fwd, 15 rev

Grab a rock. Overhead carry to the track around the fields. Leave the rocks there… gonna need them later.

The thang:

We make our way around the track for a series of pain stations.

Station 1 (West siiiiide, near hills)
– Merkins x 25
– LBC x 25 IC
– Prisoner Squats x 25
– Plank – hold ~15 sec
– Chill Cut – hold ~15 sec
– Run to next station…

Station 2 (South side, top of the hill near Grigsby Ave)
– Brokeback Merkins – x 15 / flapjack
– Freddie Mercury x 25 IC
– Prisoner Squat x 25
– Run to next station…

Station 3 (volleyball court)
Parade of animals 2x around the court.  Divided each long side into two sections, end lines count as one section.   Progress through the following animals 3x total (results in two laps around the court):
– Bear crawl
– Crab walk (a.k.a. Jameis Winstons)
– Duck walk
– Frog hop

Feeling those quads…. Recover on the jog….

Station 4 (track near the pond)
– Burpees x 10 OYO
– WWII x 25 IC
– Squats x 25 IC
– Run to next station…

Station 5 (return to the rocks)
Men lined up back to back, rocks distributed every other man.
Man with the rock passes to the man on his left, then twist back to man on right for a chain of Hot Rocks.  No music though.  Rocks were passed 25x, then switch direction for 25x more.
Time is drawing near… so we ditch remaining rock work and return them to the pile.

Station 6 (headed to amphitheater)
PAX gathered on the path next to the rock pile for a quick sprint, AYG (all you got) down the path, across the bridge and down the other track to the amphitheater.  Great hustle by all.
From there, the winded PAX engaged in a quick round of Mary including one of YHC’s favorite 1-2 punches:
– BTTW x 25 IC
– “Make America Great Again” Hammers x 25 IC

Our three eldest statesmen in attendance picked and led the final 3 exercises:
– People’s Chair x 25 count + 5 bonus count for New Mexico (M4L – age withheld but you can find it on Tinder)
– Boat Canoe x 25 IC (Hoff, don’t hassle him)
– Protractor @ 6″, 45deg, 90deg, back to 6″ – each at 10 count (Stark, the man the myth the animal)

COT
Announcements: half-marathoners/marathoners are running ATT tomorrow – launching from Wimberly at 6:30am tomorrow (saturday).
Prayers for Dex, Deadbolt (healing foot), Stark’s daughter (traveling to competition in Texas) and Yosef (baby due any second now…),  prayers for all our brothers we haven’t seen in some time – hope they can join again soon.

Moleskin
Always an honor to lead you men.  No matter how badly you want to find an excuse some days to fartsack and try again tomorrow…. it’s always worth it when you’re done with the workout.  I appreciate the camaraderie, encouragement, mutual respect and dedication shown by each and every one of you.
