As is his normal routine, YHC actually planned out a workout for today. Knowing the parking lot at A-Team could be dicey, the first option was a workout primarily around the large pavilion. For those of you who frequent A-Team, you know that the pavilion is in the very back of the park; but close to our normal parking location. Being an experienced Pax at A-Team, YHC also had a backup plan – of what to do if the gates were closed. This backup plan centered around activities in the front part of the park.
However, YHC never contemplated a plan C. In this case, the gates were closed – and the roads entering the park and parking lots – were complete sheets of ice. I walked in the park a little bit scouting out the terrain before the appointed hour and knew immediately – that no workout in the park would be possible without ice skates.
So – Plan Audible went into effect. Follow me yelled YHC – running away from the park and up the street. Indian Run – (I figured the concept of an Indian Run would help buy me some time to think). Part way up the hill, someone made reference to the Elementary School at the top of the hill – hmmm…. i thought to myself, let see what might there. If that doesn’t work, we can always run back down the hill.
God is Good – Elementary school lot was at least passable, so we got to work.
Warm up – GM x20, SSH x20, IW x20, Sir “Denali” arm circles x20, Quick Feet – x 48 (no real reason for that number -just didn’t feel like stopping and the long cadence gave me the time to plan out the rest of the workout)
The Thang – Jog down to the parking lot and partner up. For future reference – if i say partner up – don’t ask me if size or speed matters. If it matters, I might tell you, if it doesn’t, I won’t. If it matters and you ask me before i tell you, I will likely lie anyway. In this case – I didn’t know yet as I was just formulating a plan. Partner 1 – run parking lot loop, Partner 2 – Merkins x100, Squats x200, LBCs x300; flapjack each lap around – but cumulative count for the 2 partners. Oh yeah – try to avoid the patches of ice.
Next up was a bear crawl – part way down the lot – jog to end – Lunge walk back around the other side of the circle. Repeato, Repeato again – on the last time, lunge walk back up to the top of the hill where warmup began. At this point, YHC was feeling more quick feet – so we started at 49 and continued our count – stopping at 101. No real reason for the number – just felt good.
Circle up and plank o’rama for a few minutes, then some Mary – WW2 x20, Freddy Mercury x20, Homer to Marge x20
Recover and run back down the street to the park entrance – dodging cars and Black Ice. At the park entrance – to kill a few more minutes – more arm circles (in reverse this time), more GMs, Windmills and some Merkins for Good Measure. That was it – Plan Audible complete and relatively a success.
COT – Announcements – The Bull, The Mule and K2C – Ma Bell must be a paid spokesman for these three events.
Prayer Requests – MaBell’s – Father in law (surgery) and HotSpots M’s grandmothers passing – 99 wonderful years.
Thanks Men – Enjoyed it as always!
Random thoughts – Denali not a fan of Arm Circles nor Homer to Marge – i highly recommend working them into workouts that he attends – it amps up the mumblechatter which i enjoy.
See you in the Gloom!
